Ah is that “Albert Ross ” at Abingdon Fayre 2004 earlier in the month DB? π
Naaah, that’s just his ‘stand-in’. ! :p

“Nikon – the best a man can get”
Nice to meet everyone yesterday – sorry I dashed off but I was warned about the possible queue if we waited to get away.
π
QUEUE?…….TOO LATE!!
OK Albert,
No offence, but I beg to differ…1. It looks good (to me). 2. A b&w isn’t 100% proof – have you better evidence than that? 3. Do you know that they don’t have more (better) info? 4. So what? If it is wrong, that’s not good – but the collection has a better job to do (flying the worldβs most historic collection of airworthy aircraft) than keeping pedants like you and I happy with very minor points.
Chippie:
Airbedane has asked, and the commentator has asked for a blown (Canadian) canopy or a lead on the same – they want to carry on getting it to Canadian configuration. In the meantime, deal – it’s a very distinctive Chipmunk. Please bear in mind that the public (mum, dad & the kids) like colourful a/c – it boosts OW revenue, and that’s what we want, because we want to see these amazing a/c fly, and I don’t care if they are blue with purple spots*, as long as they aren’t nailed to the ground! Yes, they should get it right, but you chose β another 1/2 hour on paint scheme research, or a 1/2 hour on maintenance or rectification, or taking a break after putting on another show which is very hard work? Easy call, isnβt it. Letβs see the big pic.
Cheers
*OK I lie, but you get my point.
James,
Yes, yes, I know the main object is to keep the aircraft preserved in excellent flying condition and they do that well, BUT, this is supposed to be an authentic scheme that I proposed and researched for them. No one has any colour photos taken in 1933, so you have to go by the facts. We know the CFS aerobatic teams painted the upper fuselage decking on their 1932 Tiger Moth aerobatic team RED and the same with their Genet Moth team. Now look at this photo of the actual 1933 Tutor team and tell me the tones on the upper decking are not the same as the red on the wings? Also here is a photo of models of the CFS Tutor and Tiger Moth teams painted absolutely 100% accurately! I have informed Shuttleworth and I await their response!
It says two of the engines work!
At least mine was posed and I gave you a chance to smile!!! That’s just cruel!
Actung Baby!
Man, that Olympic shot is old school. When was that picture taken?
It was taken in 1996, but does that matter? We are discussing taking photos whilst boarding airliners, not when they were taken or if the livery is current or not? At least I am posting photos relevant to the question and not wasting forum space with profiles of an airliner not yet built and when it IS built, that United livery will be ‘old school’….! π‘
Albert shhhh! all hell’s gonna break loose now!!!, must admit i quite liked the yellow!
As for SVAS, im off to find out a bit more. i should listen more to the commentators…they are always banging on about SVAS! and the Chippie being in the wrong colours! someone PLEASE paint it! the guys doing my head in moaning about it!!…gimme a brush I’ll paint it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If people are going to paint aircraft in authentic schemes, they MUST be right! I supplied Shuttleworth with all the reference photos for the Tutor. Although they are b/w, it is quite obvious the top decking should be RED
As for the Chipmunk, well say no more! Someone somewhere thinks no one will notice!
Tutor wrong colour!
Damn! They’ve painted the fuselage decking on the Tutor the wrong colour!
It should be RED not green. Anyone else agree?
Abingdon today
Taifun – what day you are going to G-VFWE then?
Taifun and Damien meet at Abingdon today!
Are there going to be any other Hunters at Kemble?
I know there is one or two at Exeter and also at Scampton.Tom
…like perhaps these……or at least a T.7 in “Blue Diamonds” colours, eh??? π
Albert
It will be at kemble on June 20th
Great!! Now I’ve got your attention Glen, how about another rarity that never goes anywhere – the long-legged Jet Provost T.1, G-AOBU/’XD693′, from your mates at Kennet Aviation,North Weald. I’ve asked you to try to get this to Kemble many times but all we see are the same JP T3/4s every time!
Have just read that they are getting a new Control Tower at Heathrow to be operational in 2006. I guess the old one will be demolished – shame!
Some boarding shots – yes all Boeing 737s I’m afraid!
Here are some of my boarding shots at Riga, Athens and even Bucharest. Taking photos has never been a problem, but I do ask airline staff sometimes and they always say yes. If I feel some airports might object, I just do it, as the airport staff are usually too busy to bother to challenge you, when all they want to do is get you on board as quick as possible! The icing on the cake is when your aircraft gets delayed and the cabin crew let you stand on the steps and shoot all the aircraft around you!
Keep your eyes open for the next update to the Kemble Show………………….Shades of 2001……………you won’t be dissapointed.
I am already getting a ‘de ja vue’ feeling of nostalgia coming over me – what a line-up, ex FAA Sea Hawk, Gannet and Sea Vixen…..hmmm, please park them together Glen? π
This is once again shaping up to be a highlight of the Airshow seasson here in the UK. This was a most impressive demostration of Hunter flying, and as they say you can’t have too much of a good thing so it will be nice to see them back.
I was at Bournemouth Aviation Museum a few weeks back and there was a Swiss pilot being checked out on G-HIVP, the blue and white Hunter. It was nice to see as I have never seen this aircraft flown before.
It’s actualy G-HVIP, but it seldom goes anywhere, which is a great pity as it would be nice to see it at Kemble. I have never seen it outside the hangar at Bournemouth.
