Here are two more types you haven’t shown – the CAP 10s, previously used by the “Green Marche” team and their support Do-28D Skyservant. They had two of these – are they still in service?
Ah yeah but there was one vital ingredient missing from ‘Tora Tora Tora’…the LOVE TRIANGLE! 😉
But there was! I loved the ‘Zeros’, the ‘Vals’ and the P-40s! :p
What puzzles me is why did they bother to make it as they couldn’t improve on “Tora, Tora Tora”?
Any chance of seeing a ‘side view’ photo of the Dutch Connie, as all the photos published seem to be ‘head-on’ for some reason? Is it in FULL KLM markings with roof titles, or do KLM object to this?
Quite shocked to see the Vimy operating out of Old Warden. If the DH88 Comet can’t fly from there, how on earth did they allow the Vimy to?
I should also add that the higher the dpi you use, the less images you will get on each CD. I scan my slides at 300dpi, as I could go up to 8400dpi with with Epson Perfection 1200 PHOTO scanner, but there is no point, as 300dpi give me superb 6″X 4″ prints and is also the lowest resolution any publication will use. If you use higher than 300dpi, you will soon fill up stacks of CDs!
Pint of Avgas, Frecce Tricolori smoked sandwich washed down by a half of propwash!
If you eat it too quickly, you get a dose of afterburner!
I eat helicopters!
Do you mean Helicopter Crisps or Plane crisps?
WA669 (CFS Little Rissington) was the original V-P aircaraft at their inception in 1971 as Alebrt’s and my shots wil testify.WF791 (ex 5 CAACU Woodvale) took over the flying duties from early 1976. The roles were reversed in 1984 with ‘669 again taking on the flying role and ‘791 being held as a flying reserve. This continued until the tragedy at Mildenhall ( I have seen a shot of the last seconds of the Vampire that clearly shows the tailboom intact – I had read that this had become lost during the collission) WF 791 was re-instated as a solo act for the 1987 season but rather eerily was lost on the bank holiday Saturday at Coventry – virtually a year to the day of the V-P loss.
RIP
Absolutely spot on Kodak! I was at Coventry that day and saw WF791 crash.
The caption to Papa Lima’s photo is completely wrong – what publication is this from?

These are my photos in my book “De Havilland Twin Booms – Vampire, Venom & Sea Vixen published by Airlife Publishing(now defunct, so grab one of you see it!)
Dragon Rapide is G-AKRP from Sywell operated by Fordair.
Spot on Flood! XK534 coded ‘683’ was at the Farnborough Air Show in September 1961 and that was one of the first aircraft I ever shot.
yes but this is XK624 – yeh I know typo! The shot was taken at Biggin Hill B0B display, so 624 must have got around before XH304 came on the scene. Albert – surely you have better images than this??
Well of course I have, but I didn’t want to show off…..but if you insist!
I flew in LZ413 in Bulgaria in September 95.
