April 1st has gone! They were never at Poole, only Cowes and Calshot. 🙂

..well I was only small!! Must have been Calshot, then? Could have sworn they were at Poole

When were the two Princesses moved from Calshot to Poole? As a small boy, I remember seeing then cocooned whilst standing on Poole harbour quayside.

I heard there were reports of people seeing the ghost of an Elephant by the 747! Later it was confirmed as a Jumbo! :p

So am I the only one to share my stash of kits, or are you all worried ‘your other half’ might see this thread if you post your secret collection. Go on, be bold and don’t let this thread die a death? 😮

Glad to hear the good news, Ian. A friend called in there recently and said they all look neglected and didn’t know who was responsible for their upkeep!

And the Boeing Helicopter under restoration..any history on that one?

The ‘Boeing’ helicopter is actually a Vertol HUP-2 Retriever and think this was outside at one time.

What a collection, Albert, including I see a Fairey Rotodyne 🙂 Your completed model assembly resembles Heathrow over the weekend. Amazing use of space.

I was interested to see that Airfix 1:144 VC10 tanker in what looks to be a wrap-around finish, although perhaps just camo top sides. It’s OK, you don’t have to go back up to check 😀

Two Revell Rotodynes both bought quite cheaply on E.Bay from the States.
That camouflaged VC-10 tanker is just topsides and was the first time Airfix issued this kit as a tanker.

A friend of mine has an unmade Frog Shackleton, which I gather is like hens teeth…….?

Not really, still quite a lot around. This kit lost its value when it was reissued by NOVO and several other Russian manufacturers until Revell bought the mould and have reissued it again fairly recently!

Just a little point these are apparently worth between £45 to £160 depending on condition and packaging, but must be the first 3 series packaging (like mine) as the fourth season one’s are not worth a lot apparently.

Oddly contrailjj i bought this one on e bay from canada not from you was it ?

    curlyboy

They’re only ‘worth’ what anyone is prepared to pay for them! Since E.Bay started, so-called ‘rare’ kits have been coming out of attics in droves and a kit you thought was ‘rare’ a few years ago has now depreciated in price, simply because E.bay has proved people have been stashing these kits away for years and now they suddenly all emerge, with the owners all declaring ‘rarity’ and expecting to make mega-bucks. For example, pre-E.bay a Revell Fairey Rotodyne was priced at £125.00($300) at swapmeets and collector’s fairs. Now one pops up most weeks on E.Bay and can be as low as £9-£10 ($18-25)! If all these kits had been built, then the few left unbuilt would have indeed been ‘rare’. A ‘rare’ kit for me would be Aurora’s 1/8th scale jet pilot figure “Steve Canyon” or Kitmaster’s Fireball XL-5 that was sold as a promotion by Lyons Maid icecream in the early ’60s. Finding these kits unmade are like hen’s teeth and they will command a high price!
Now, I have just been up in the attic and taken these shots of ‘a small part’ of my kit collection…and to prove I do build them, one of the finished articles!

Do you have to pay to gain entry to the Moth Club arena as well?

You have to pay £15 per person in a car for entry to Woburn Park, but you have to be a member of the Moth Club to enter the fenced-off enclosure, although you should be able to get all the photos you want without entering the enclosure! There is no actual charge by the Moth Club for their event.
As suggested, it would be far better to avoid this fiasco and to hold it at Sywell or somewhere equally Moth-friendly!

It was probably a Merlin – but at that distance and trying to drive……….

I just saw the outline – and immediately thought ‘Mi-26’

But I have been known to be wrong…….. :diablo:

Maybe I am getting too obsessed with Russian aircraft ?? 😎

    Ken

….no, not you? You just drive past a dogs’ home and think of a ‘Hound’, past a hospital and think ‘Hip’ operation and past a church and imagine a ‘Halo’? I’ll bet every time Peter Pan is mentioned, that bad pirate guy reminds you of a Mil Mi-6? (think about it? )

This thread will become very tedious and boring if everyone just scans single kits among their stock. What would be far more interesting would be a flash photo inside your attic or whever you keep you kits and goodies. Will have a go later…watch this space! 😮

I recall see one used at the Bristol & Gloucestershire Gliding Club at Nympsfield when I was small. My father took a photo of it, which I shall hunt for.Meanwhile do a Google search on ‘Tiger Moth glider towing’ and lots of references will come up, worldwide!
