Thanks Glyn. Interesting to note that G-AGSH is still airworthy in BEA livery at Bournemouth
I have a fish called Fat Albert! (after RAF Hercules)
(Gold Severum)
…er, excuse me?
Seems they don’t care about the colours and markings, but the MiG and Sukhoi look fairly authentic. Not that can be said for the ‘Orange’ Wilga and ‘silver’ Zlin. Here they are in December 1989, probably when they were still in their original markings.
I have just found out it came from the Bomber County Aviation Museum at Hemswell, so I can’t imagine why it is now at Sleap, unless for rebuild to fly perhaps?
Hi Albert,
Any chance of providing the serial number for the Scimitar, please?
Unfortunately the pics are too small to see it.
Thanks in advance,
Richard
‘032’ is XD235 and ‘038’ is XD236
Just a quick update-Provost WW388 is presently lying at Sleap, Shropshire
Photo P.Consterdine
..do you mean ‘lying asleep’? Where did that come from, as not in the current W&R?
Very good Richard, and I’m sure very useful for anyone visiting Egypt. The ‘catapult’ photo needs uploading again as all I get is a ‘x’.
Thought you all might be interested to see this shot taken at Kemble in February 1971 just after Red Arrows Gnats XR986 & XR545 were involved in a fatal mid-air collision on 20th January 1971.
Yes I had all these, but found Viscounts very hard to find so I wrote to Kelloggs and sent one one my numerous TriStars asking them if they could exchange it – and they did! One of the Tristars won a trophy at the IPMS Show at Telford a few years back, beautifully hand painted in Gulf Air colours. They were indeed all on e.bay a few months ago and I e.mailed the seller to see if she would sell them separately, but alas it was ‘all or nothing’!
Sorry , wrong Swift
…how ‘incompertant’ of you! 😉
Albert – these are fantastic. Thank you.
Do you have any more?!!
No that’s all. I did take a few more slides during the sortie, as well as b/w negs.with a second camera, but they were for other friends of mine.
Is my memory playing tricks on me, or did I see this aircraft at Abingdon in 1968 leading the RAF flypast in the presence of HM the Queen?
Quite correct Peter! I saw it there also, as well as at Yeovilton Air Day in ’66
Thanks! What colour is that Sea Hawk by the way? From the pics it looks rather like the sort of blue-black you get on COD Gannets and the like, not like the full on black like the FRADU Hawks
They’re black, but these shots look a bit blue due to the camera I was using plus all the ultraviolet light and haze over the sea. Paint was a satin finish and note the addition of the Harley Lght under the port wing.
I fully agree with Alan. We all love reading your posts and getting all the news from Oz. No one has reprimanded you for anything and if you hadn’t started it, someone else would. Anyway, you can’t leave us – you’re on the inventory! 😉
…And the Scimitars now please!
Crikey, that’s a fantastic colour scheme (fumbles around for that Airfix kit..)
I was waiting for that! Yes, these were all taken the same day and that’s the Isle of Wight in the background. These have all appeared in mags and books since I took them, so you may recognise them. Enjoy!
