Nope you were just finding something to whinge about. If thats the best you can do then Glen and the team must have cracked it 😀

That’s VERY unfair as I have no criticism about the show organisation. I am just raising this as a general point of discussion to see what people think! 😮

I totally agree, however part of Alberts complaint was directed at this particular aircraft, which IMHO given the conditions was unfair

On that note, I wonder why none of the other owners put covers over their aircraft at Kemble if heat is such an issue, not even any of the visitors which no one would have bothered about?
Perhaps they just leave the windows open, which seems a practical solution?

    …And breathe….

Albert, did you ask for the covers to be moved for a pic?

    D

Nope, as I already have a clear shot of this machine on a previous occasion.
It only lives a few miles away and is a regular at Kemble. I was just think of all the other photographers that perhaps haven’t seen it before

Just heard a rumour that there are no German veterans allowed at this years Flying Legends, is this true, and if anyone knows this to be the case, just what might be the reason behind such an absurd decision?

Oh I’m sure we will see the odd Hispano Buchon disguised as a Gustav, CASA 352 disguised as a Ju-52 or even a Nord 1002 disguised as an Me-108. 😉

Lovely stuff Damien – you never fail to impress! Actually I wouldn’t mind going to a night air show – well floodlit static, anyway, just for a change….now there’s a thought Kemble…

The only thing I would say is that those puppies get very very hot inside, yes you can take the doors off, but if it is anything like the Gazelle, they need the emergency jettison handles and mechanisms re-wire locking back on again. Some instrumentation and its batteries do/does not like hot temperatures and can be prone to failure, or in the case of batteries exploding. So I understand the annoyances of those that wanted to photo it, but I can understand why they covered it.

Yes, I do understand all that, but with the Alouette II, don’t both side doors hinge right forward, so the doors could have been left open and would have been acceptable to all parties?

It was part of the static line; personally I feel if you want to cover your aircraft up all day (and again, was this actually the case?) then don’t fly it in as part of the static display and just go park with the rest of the GA types. A compromise could have been to open the doors and put a cover on it an hour or so before intending to start up, and thus let the worst of the heat die down before you have to fly it.

Incidentally Albert were you not impressed with the efforts to make a certain other helicopter exhibit in the static both actually present and presentable? I think the chaps who put the Puma back together from its dismantled state deserve a hearty round of applause for a job well done!

Hang on a minute – are you agreeing with me? 😮 What you are saying is exactly the point I am trying to make…and YES, I was totally impressed with the appearance of that Puma and didn’t realise it had previously been dismantled. Well done to everyone for that!

Multivac- When they say go to St Athan for scrapping , it very much equates to remove every last piece that’s usable to keep the old birds flying!
Be nice to see her taxying up and down at Bruntingthorpe but that wouldn’t keep her sisters flying.

Yes, a sad day. Apparently this is one of three going there ‘to be disassembled’ on Monday. There are rumours that the RAF is looking at buying some second-hand TriStars to tied them over until the A330 tankers are delivered. Anyone heard that? Perhaps some a Delta’s recently retired -500s?

I’m sure the owners wouldn’t mind taking the cover up and moving for a moment so someone interested can get a photo, at military shows ive been to, re-enactors and the like have been very helpful in this sort of situation. After all, you never know (or get what you want) unless you ask

Oh you’re absolutely right! I actually know the owner and he would have been only too pleased to oblige. However, I’m generalising about this situation in general and RIAT is another example where crews think that their aircraft just being there is good enough and what they do around it is of no consequence to anyone.

Hello? who owns it anyway? If it was mine & I had a bunch of anoraks asking to do this/do that I’d tell em to **** off.

Ah, I expected this sort of negative reaction from a non-enthusiast. In that case, why bother to bring it? 🙁

Personally i think its their choice, especially with the cover as we all know what its like to get into a car with the steering wheel burning your hands e.t.c, id much rather have a nice, relatively cool cockpit with controls you can touch without hurting yourself than have it on display. I do understand your viewpoint as well though, so like most arguments on the forum i have two viewpoints on it.

…so how many events have you brought your car to, where the public pay good money to view, admire and photograph it…?? 🙁 There is no excuse, as the doors on the Alouette II can be removed for ventilation, so the cover is not necessary, let alone everyone camping in front! 😡

I’ve got an 0955 arrival slot for G-BSEU tomorrow, just in case anyone wants to come and meet.

Saw your ship in the middle of the visitor’s park, but completely abandoned!

That’s better! Now did you get any of T3A XM479….. 😀

XM479 landed but parked over by Delta Jets hangar. G-BWGT also arrived and parked in the static, but was exactly the same as last year.
