After all these years of posting obsessively about the F-35 you still don’t know Denmark, as a JSF Program participant, will in fact pay the exact same price as the US?

After all this time why do you still respond to so many of MSpheres postings? Do us all a favor and put him (and a few others) on Ignore. Your quality of life will most likely improve.

Regarding “the price”; it really depends how you look at it, doesn’t it… one could argue that nobody will pay as much as the US, who will after all cover most of the R&D costs… 😉

Dude , people will reject an idea if they think it is wrong , and when people think an idea is wrong they will try to disprove it , nothing abnormal with that . And whether you are legit or not we cant know for sure , everyone is entitled to their own opinions on that matter

I have specific reasons to believe that Mercurius is who he says he is — and no I will not explain what those reasons are.

Saab has begun work to modify a pair of Bombardier Global 6000 business jets to its “swing-role” GlobalEye configuration for lead customer the United Arab Emirates.

“We are building as we speak,” Saab chief executive Håkan Buskhe told journalists during a 17 May briefing in Stockholm. “It’s full speed ahead in our workshop.”

The Swedish company signed a $1.27 billion deal with the UAE at the Dubai air show in November, with the heavily adapted Global 6000s to be capable of conducting airborne early warning and control (AEW&C), maritime and land surveillance and electronic intelligence duties.

Saab chief executive Håkan Buskhe reveals the cost of developing the Gripen E and producing its three Swedish test aircraft will be less than $2 billion.

“I think it will be a great aircraft – definitely the best fighter that we’ve ever had,” Swedish air force chief Maj Gen Mats Helgesson said on the eve of the roll-out. Using the new model will ensure the service is able to keep pace with emerging regional threats, including the Russian military’s Sukhoi Su-35 and T-50 fighters and advanced S400 surface-to-air missile system, he adds.

“There is some optimisation to do – we can reduce some weight,” he notes.

Saab notes, more than three years since the formal launch of the Gripen E project for Sweden, it has hit all required milestones.

S-400 and PAK FA…. those Swedes are very confident in the Gripen E capabilities!

America’s decision to remove the arms embargo against Vietnam can open the large Swedish arms deals with the Southeast Asian one-party state. It could for example be the case with a Vietnamese Gripen deal.

I am surprised that the level of “fanboyism” from some of the posters here that I thought were beyond that….

Overall, the Danish conclusion is not surprising at all, this is what most people expected.

In the past the Danes have not really done very demanding missions like AI and SEAD/DEAD — however if they want to perform such missions in the future then clearly the F-35 is the way to go.

A pity Rafale did not participate — it would have been very interesting to see if the Danish eval would have reflected the Swiss, and ranked the Rafale significantly higher than the Typhoon.

“Having a roll-out of a new aircraft is a dream for a CEO,” Saab chief executive Håkan Buskhe told journalists in Stockholm the day before the event. The company believes a potential market exists to produce between 400 and 450 Gripen Es over the life of the programme, he adds.

Saab launched the Gripen E project in February 2013, and says the programme is on schedule and on budget. Noting that the cost of the development activity and producing its eventual three test aircraft will be less than $2 billion[…]

It will be interesting to see if they can keep it on schedule and on budget!

Slightly OT, but I am curious if people are aware of the tiny but still crucial role Norway played in the Falklands war?

I wasn’t aware myself until I read a book about Norwegian spy activities recently… 🙂
