Ian, can you post some of the pics please??
Roger smith.
Firebex, have you been in touch with R-RHT?
I too saw the Peregrine on display (on the occasion of the AGM 10 days ago) but earlier we had been treated to a ‘film’ – a computer model of a Griffon running (with soundtrack added) and it was superb.
There was, I think, mention of future projects of scanning/modelling other engines. Perhaps you could suggest the Peregrine?
Roger Smith.
It seems correct that VP981 won’t be pleasure flying from Coventry this year and the only option is with Conciair.
Roger Smith.
TO, the BAPC ‘advert’ didn’t give a location or identity so I still don’t know 🙁
I could take a wild guess – but I’m not going to start any other rumours going.
Roger Smith.
Enjoying these.
Can’t be many (if any?) other places where you can see a Sabre and MiG-15 next to each other.
Roger Smith.
Just sent another one
Roger Smith.
Thanks for the continuing input – it’s looking pretty impressive now.
J.Boyle – have now included the SE Lockheeds. It would be great to have a similar list for individual types but, I think, is beyond my patience and perseverence!!!
Al, the Vought book I got from a website listing 92 Putnam titles. I did a bit of googling which has given me an ISBN no of 0851778852 (or 53) published in December, 2000. Can’t get a cover illustration but there appear to be copies available on Amazon.de (Germany) from £43!!
J.Boyle – I wonder if the publication of “North American Aircraft 1934 – 1999 Vols 1 & 2” by Kevin Thompson (presumably about 10 years ago) queered the pitch for Putnam and they withdrew ‘theirs’ ??
Sunderlandnut raises a point I had been meaning to mention. Several publishers have done series’ of books covering aircraft manufacturers.
Janes “Planemakers” – we’ve got No 4 Shorts and no 2 Westland
Ian Allan “Aircraft Album” – Focke-Wulf?, Heinkel? Junkers? Messerschmitt? Avro? Bristol? Handley Page? Hawker? Boeing? North American (no. 6).
Tempus – Folland, Handley Page, Parnall, Grumman, Sikorsky, Stearman’
Chalford “Archive Photographs” – Junkers? Armstrong Whitworth, Blackburn? Hawker? SAAB?
Narkiewicz/Thompson – seems to come up as a ‘Putnam-type’ series (at least by title)
If anyone can make additions to these ranges I’d be grateful (or will have to go a-googling again)
Finally, after I’ve added the latest version, I’m going to delete earlier versions in the thread (keep everything else) for the sake of brevity!

The answer to the question why would business invest £20m in Concorde when they wouldn’t in the Vulcan seems, to me at least, to have a simple answer.
With little experience or information to draw on would an astute business think they could see a profit in flying a large ex-miltary 4-jet around to air displays during the summer months. Has ANY ex-military jet made a continuous profit in the UK. Everyone knows the saying “the way to make a small fortune in flying old aircraft…..”
As I (and others) have said, it is proposed that Concorde will be part of a visitor attraction and, I would assume, there are plenty of examples of those in London that DO turn a profit.
Roger Smith.
