……..I seem to recall a Humber monoplane in the terminal at Birmingham airport around the same time but I don’t think I took a photograph of that. Neither aircraft are there now.
The Humber Monoplane replica (BAPC9) was on long-term loan from the Midland Air Museum and it returned and is on display there (at MAM) now.

For those who, like me, are of the “older” generation I think Cosford station is within the WMPTE/Centro (or whatever they’re calling the west midlands transport Fat Controller these days) area. Which means, with a bus pass, you can travel there (after 9.30) for free 🙂 (within the west midlands).
Gotta get my bus pass application sorted!

Coincidentally there was an interesting discussion on Barry Clay’s Wings Over Warwickshire Forum 9-10 days ago about Aerovans. My knowledge of the type is very slim so the following is extracted from that Forum.
Barry put up a photo of the c/n plate he took off G-AJOG shortly before it was burnt at Wrafton Gate (Chivenor??) “without the permission of the RAF Fire Service” in November, 1963. He also put up a photo of the aircraft taken minutes before the axe fell.
However the c/n plate has c/n no. 6414 on it – which as that Forums resident Miles expert pointed out is actually the c/n of G-AJTC.
The c/n plate on the Aerovan was apparently attached to the control column and as both ‘JOG and ‘JTC were operated by Ladi Marmol and his operation flying Chivenor – Lundy Island it is thought perhaps that after ‘JTC was written off spares were recovered and the control column found it’s way ont ‘JOG.

ps there is currently a discussion running on the Miles M.18 and the aforesaid “resident Miles expert” (Peter ??) mentions a new “History of Miles Aircraft” which sounds as if it’s going to be in three volumes. yummy
Here’s one to get the ball rolling…….
Miami International Airport, just above the security check area. It took a bit of persuading to get them to allow me to take out a camera. Once I explained I owned a similar example, they were charm itself! (or just desperate to get rid of the nutter!) 😀
Was there a sign underneath it saying “give us any trouble and you’ll be flying home in one of these” :diablo::diablo::diablo:

Ah, they’ve moved the Spitfire (hope they didn’t drop it :diablo:) – I visited in 2002 and it was still with the Ju 87 over the escalators and could only get “from under” photos.

wonder if it will ever appear on UK screens.
A poignant link between the Sundance Festival and the news of the death of Paul Newman over the weekend.

…..G-AKIU is on long term restoration with Air Atlantique.
‘KIU appears to be coming along well – the fuselage/centre section recently appeared in AA’s hangar.
