Good news

Another, similar, incident in Coventry.
However, despite our opinions of the perpetrators, there may be a little bit of good comes out of it…..
As someone said in an earlier post we don’t know whether it was a couple of pounds or a hundred but it has generated front page headlines in the local rag. Our rag (as I am sure others) gives good coverage to Remembrance Day (and ex-service matters generally) but the prominent news of this indefensible act just might encourage people to dig a little deeper in their pockets this year.

Only about 14 to be tracked down!
But that’s assuming all projects started applied for a civil reg. The PFA would be a good place to enquire as it’s a fair bet they have a complete list – indeed one of those on G-INFO has a c/n including “PFA” & “21”

I, too, have used the CWGC site tracing a relative.
You mention the crew being buried in Reichwald Forest – it is possible (as in the case of my relative) they were re-interred in a CWGC cemetery after the war.
Good luck – and let us know how you get on.

If this wer only a Lanc’ and I wuz my granpappy in the tail turret…….

That is great news. My hopes that we might see one preserved in the UK were beginning to fade.
Cosidering how close a neighbour and ally France is/has been we do not have a great deal of French military hardware in the UK museums (excepting Mystere IVa) – I’ve always wanted an Ouragon over here 🙂

wow! I could sit and gaze for ages at these, wishing I was where that family are standing 🙂
Now wouldn’t those five pictures be fantastic set in a single long picture frame. Did you take them Geoff?
Roger Smith.
Fabulous stuff.
How did you construct – is it as original from old drawings or been made “as near as possible” from photos?
Whichever the end result is wonderful and look forward to seeing your future projects.

Did I sense a veiled criticism of the recovery group by the accident investigator? He seemed to imply there was no way of knowing where on the crash site previously recovered debris had come from?
Roger Smith.
….The story goes onto say he’ll have his ashes scattered over the English Channel where he loved to fly.
I wonder if there is any prospect of Sally B or Pink Lady doing this?
Roger Smith.
Ah, that kind of Westland Whirlwind!
Have two more different aircraft types ever carried the same name, and built by the same company.
Vickers Viking?
Roger Smith.
No, no – not until we’re married

Nice set of photos.
Can’t help thinking it would have taken quite a time to stow the rotor blades and that framework to hold them might need a crane? Still it was a prototype.

In the words of Monty Python “what have the EU ever done for us?” :diablo:
