We had a pretty good run of properganda down here with project Air 87 (new Armed Recon Helos for the Army).

Lots of dollars spent buy the US on both the AH-64 and AH-1W/Z. South Africa spent big money as well on advertising the Redhawk, then France with the Tiger (the Winner) and finally Italy with the Scorpion. I still have some of the adds in various mags, the Tiger one and the Redhawk one are very interesting and focus on how low they actually fly arether than taking the American apporach and focusing on who’s bought them, how they have been used in combat and what weapons they can use.

Chris: I heard that it was the Ark since she is the newest of the three. Also when the two new carriers come on line She is to be retained as a second Helo carrier to back up Ocean thus providing the RN with two Helo carriers since the cancelation of the second ship in the OCEAN class (retaining the Ark was seen as a cheaper option- can’t see how since she’d be getting on and parts would start to cost more).

Ok here is the full list of ships in this round, next time it won’t be as hard.

    1. LA Eithne (the only helo capable ship currently serving in the Irish Navy- what you can see is the Hanger door).
    2. HMAS Brunei
    3. GNS Lutjens
    4. HMNZS Manawanui (New Zealands diving tender- she’s been very active lately trialing new gear and also conducting Patrols since the retirement of HMNZS Canterburry).
    5. Super Dvora Mk2 of Israel.

And here is a pic of the last two for you all.

Well done Can, it is indeed HMAS Brunei, our most used Landing craft currently deployed to the Solomon Islands and previously deployed to Bougainville.

In the last 10 years she only spent a combined total of a year at home.

    Ultima: Sorry mate, try again

I didn’t think the first pic would be so hard, I actually thought it would go first, interesting!

That doesn’t make sence mate since they are to be deployed on HMS Ocean as it’s main force element!. But not putting them on the Carriers does make sence since the Carriers wouldn’t be able to accomidate the extra spares needed should an apache need some work done.

Basically I believe haldf of what was said but not all!

I have read some reports where pilots of Harriers (not just British pilots mind you), where the pilot has grabed the wrong lever at the wrong time and as such the a/c has ploughed straight into the ground or sea

China uses a Boeing of some sort, can’t remember which one, but I remember the scandle a couple of years ago where the Us intel community bugged the plane during production and China found the bugs and screamed bloody murder!

Hey Can, just off topic, I read that the leader of the VPLA recently died age 91, is there to be a national day of mourning for him considering his many contributions to the country?
