The GD offer is to cover other technologies that may be used in the design (UUV/UAV/UCAV) controls.

Should they be the winner of this comp, then they all will be built in the US and not in Australia (sadly)

The A-90B and the U-212/214’s are both damd fine subs but if you want my vote I’d have to go with the Dolphine class, if one side buys these subs then any Skorpene would have a hard time trying to find them. Currently there are three in Israeli Service

Well I’d be silly not to back the GD design because of the Australian element in it, besides it has a better look of stability and I know how Incat are, they really make them go like rockets on water 😉 They have the advantage in this comp because they already have some ships in service and this design is already being produced for a civilian market, so building won’t be a problem, just continue the line!

They canceled it about 18 months ago, what you are looking at is the new program but old name, if you look at the specs of the requirement you’ll see the difference!

You think? I have taken it in to account and I know that they still need another one or two frames for training.

There is the US Perry/Masker System, the Masker in a thin line of bubbles that is produced around the ships hull this throws the active sonar in the Torp off (apparently the sonar refuses to believe that it’s a ship and thinks instead that it’s a school of fish.

The Perry part is a towed sonar emitter that emits sound waves making the passive sonar in the Torp think this is the ship. It’s usually towed behind the shipat around 500-1500 yards astern. Aussie FFG’s usually put to sea with two of them for practice.

Mate: I applaude your enthusiasm but I really think you need to read things before you post them!

The DDX has been canceled after the Gold team won, the design is how ever going to be used in the Future Destroyer Program (FDPX).

The two designs you have here are for the LCS or Littoral Combat Ship. The GD design isn’t really a GD design but and Incat Australia design which is tipped to win due to the current favour of the Incat designs already in US service (namely Joint Venture, and the two Army ships Spearhead and Arrowhead).

WHEN This design is officially selected, Incat will receive $4B in loyalties for the design and manufacture support of the ships.

The ship was bought from the Dutch which in it’s service was “HMNS De Zeven Provincien- The Seven Provences)

8x 6″ (152mm) guns, 8x Otomat SSM’s

Sistership is the Aguirre which lost it’s aft to guns in order to put a Seaking in a hanger. Both ships were completed in 1953 and are over due for replacement, they still operate with boilers but one has not put to sea in the last 15 years due to four boilers exploding (can’t remember which one).

IZAR are certainly the favourite to win the AAW and the SPS but I think that the government is looking at seperate contracts still, which is why Latham has to get voted in, he can see the sence of what is going on!

Actually mate our systems fit is still classified (meaning those fools in Canberra don’t know what they want yet), but they want it to have airbourne control as well as ground control. They also want it to be a mini AWACS system but if you ask me they are wanting too much from the program, just like the SH-2G(A)’s 🙁
