Garry: where are you mate, this is one of the questions I was talking about!
We are going to buy 12 RQ_4 Global Hawk system as a suplement to and part replacement of our Orions, these are said to be in order to help the Wedgetails patrol our waters.
We have also just issued a RFT for a UCAV though I think we should have waited at least another 10 years so that systems such as the X-45C and X-47 could gain more ground in this area of Combat.
I’m interested in hearing who else is going to buy them I know that Spain, and Portugal had a visit from a Global Hawk as did Germany, so what’s happening on that front? I don’t think that Portugal will buy any and Spain is a possible two system user, but the Luftwaffe, they were really interested in it.
Here you go

Here’s a cool pic of HMS Ark Royal being over taken by HMS Hermes
Here’s a website for you:
HMS Ark Royal R09, Eagle Class Carrier
Not ALL subs are black, here allow me
Here’s a Green one
And a Yellow one
please don’t sing it
Actually there is a Sub in the Us that is the last diesel/electric boat in the US (an Old one from Navy0 that is now being used for research and it’s painted in a Matt yellow colour.
What I want to know is, why was the Belgrano a higher target than that of the Carrier 25 de Mayo? Yes the Carrier returned to port after the Belgrano sunk and took no further part in the war (mainly because I’ve heard that she had major engine troubles and the catapult had done it self in). but Wouldn’t the Belgarno have tucked tail had the carrier been sunk?
Interesting shots, in the last pic there is a door like hatch (hope you don’t mind but I painted a circle on the pic with the area in question). Any idea what it is?
any news on the cvn-21
I couldn’t find any, though I don’t like how the Tower is so far back! What ever happened to the other concept designs? I remember reading in “Popular Mechanics” once about the differen’t designs. One had cats on each side of the Hangar deck, and another had an intergrated Ski jump bridge (that idea really appealed to me because mor often than not the area under the ski jump goes to waste.

Now that the Iraqi Coastal Defence Force is created, will the Italians deliver the two guided-missile corvettes moored in Italian port since 1991?
Mate if you’re talking about the Lupo’s they’ve been held in Italian ports since 1985 due to the Iraqi’s not paying for them, yes they are rusting away and last I heard they weren’t in ,any fit state to be shipped anywhere. The Italians tried to see them to a South American customer (possibly Venezuela who already have the type in service) but that customer rejected them.
Here’s a pic of the two ships in store, they are the two in the middle (the big ones) one is coded F-17
Indeed, I think it was high time since the Navy thread was really starting to get on in length (19 pages) and the Army thread had really started taking off as well. Well anyway now we won’t loose any vital info on Japanese destroyer replacements 😉
Well The RAN are getting two of what they term “Strategic Projection Ships”. Two designs have been narrowed down one from DCN in France and one from IZAR in Spain, I’ve been looking for the DCN submission but as yet can’t find it but I have the details of the Izar offer. One thing that is essential for the bid is that both ships must be built in Australia, which is why American yards pulled out in the initial phase!
Here are the details of the IZAR design for the Strategic Projection Ship
**EDIT**
Finally found DCN’s bid, here is the Batiments de Projection
Not the differences between the two, apart from the ski jump!
Trust me mate, the feeling over here, well with all the people I know in the different states that is, all hate the way the John Howard has ridden the back of George Bush. I seriously think that when the election comes, I would be very supprised to see Johnny retain power, even after his slime finding mission digging up all this dirt on the opposition leader
Well we are getting carriers again, two of them but not in the same sence as what we used to have. See my thread on “Questions arising from the DCR”
Interesting
Nice pics Flex, if only we could see them mate 😛
Albert: Mate that’s a nice poic you got there, as for that Provost, I’d be really interested in seeing it because I came across that story a little while ago for the Historical section (which used to be Flypast)
Well I’ve just been reading that the RAAF is to increase it’s order from 6 to 12 RQ-4 Systems to be paid for in FY06 to FY08.
What I would like to know is who else is going to buy them? I know that the system was shown to the Germans but are they going to buy them? Are others interested or can they not afford them (I mean seriously it is a huge investment, and the way UAV technology is going they’ll be out of date tech rather quick won’t they)!
