Glenn: Mate last time I checked the IN was going for 4 nukes of the Akula class (Improved makes more sence), so where did you come up with the fact that they are only getting 2? What I’m more interested in is Brazil’s intentions at gaining a nuke navy, anyone care to speculate on where the technology would come from for them to kick off? I think France as Brazil and France are great buddies atm.

Though there is a few people out there saying “Gawd not another Chinese thread” this one is rather well done, very informative and very nicely put, well done mate!

The Beach 1900 is no longer being made the last 1900 off the Raython Production Line went to Air New Zealand as a feederliner, but these planes rock, I flew to NZ last year in one and I’d do it again if I had the chance! I love the 1900D’s with the under belly storage, the plane has heaps of thrust and adding the under belly pod hasn’t changed the flight characteristics that much.

The Twin Otter hold special place on my fiances heart, especially since it was one of these that we got engaged on 😉 They are a good plane but starting to get on now, IIRC that line closed a few years back.

The Y-12 is a very interesting plane indeed, it has the performance of the 1900 with the capabilities of the DHC-6-400 of which it looks like! Tell me mate does Harbin offer an under belly pod to their customers? I think that customers in the transport market could use this offer especially moving combat troops around; stow your kit in the pod and jump in the plane, you’ll have about 20 troops moved in no time!

What was your role on the sub and how long ago was it?

Firstly mate, I was what they call an Oxygen Thief, I didn’t have a permant role on any particular ship and as such mostly never intergrated with the crew much, there are many roles like this and mine was just one. This was back in 98 just before I left the RAN, I also did some time on HMAS Ottama (Tarme) and HAMS Onslow (Go slow). Those O boats were much better but just too old! Why burn an Oxygen candel when you can have the comfort of AIP!

Yes the Labour party bought the Subs, but it was the liberal joker who sits in office atm that decided to change the order and have the original working specs changed to suite his American buddys power play installed, What I mean there is that they ripped out the original FCS and put in a Honeywell/Bull FCS that was untried and untested, and this has been one of the major causes of the problems in the Collins Class, no use shooting a torpedo or Sub Harpoon if it doesn’t know where to go and instead sinks to the bottom!

At sea, RAN Collin class submarines could probably destroy the entire Indonesian fleet if ever deploy during an invasion.

Nice to see that someone has faith in those things! I served on Collins itself and if there was a case of never wanting to get back in a modern sub this would be it!

Interesting design though! Don’t suppose there are any specs or details in that mag are there?

Wedgetail seems to have a better chance due to Boeing F-15K deal

That’s the way I see it too mate!

The Italians are also looking at the Wedgetail for their needs if they go ahead with their order, they’ll be buying 7

Glenn: Mate shame on you, you know that Carlo’s views are only his own, it’s others who read his work and assume he knows what he’s talking about.

They then get sent to the A/F chiefs and then the process starts about defending us against them. Sure Indonesia has a good A/F, but their Army and Navy are not that good. The TNI-AL are only a Green water force, meaning that though they have ships, they can’t enforce anything beyond their boarders. Though I’d hate to go up against their ships, their corvettes are very well armed and could easily take on our FFG’s.

They should spend sometime on this forum. Maybe they’ll learn not to make stupid mistakes like that then.

Stupid mistakes like the Flame thread, guess someone took it personally, bugger that was fun!
