Qantas Link isn’t the only operator of the B717 down here atm, as some of their fleety has been transferred to Jetstar untill the A320’s come on strength!

That really is a nice shot mate. I think that digital work is taking far more pleasure and skill away from the true art of Photography.
Damd they look good! Lucky for Mexico, love the colours also. Does any one know what’s happening with the FAM’s other AWACS purchase, the R-99A from Embraer?
Google: hahahahaha I love Tiberian Sun and Firestorm, my missus loves Kane, I prefer GDI especially Mac and General Solomon! I hope they make a movie out of it one day using the actual actors in it 😉
Mate this is very interesting and I can’t help but feel that one of the designs at the top is related to the PZL Turbo Orlik and that a couple more were also considered for the Polish Skorpian Battlefield Attack and Support Plane! I’m sure I have a pic of it somewhere!
Art: please correct me if I’m wrong (which I probably am) but the WIGE craft can also fly across land as well can’t they? Much the same as a very high floating hovercraft or a very low flying plane!
Mo taken this into account would the Russians have moved the craft from Gorky down to the Crimea at night when all prying eyes were asleep and if they happen to have heard it and rushed to see what it was making the noise, then the shape would belie a plane flying low, right?
Dis you are absolutly right, and this is why there is a current Parlimentry inquiry happening right now as to why Australia is retiring the F-111’s so early (retention cost has been ruled out since the recent upgrades have installed all the latest components), and also the F-35 being pushed on us as the best plane in the world when all people in the industry down here are very aware that it’s not and won’t do for our needs, especialy in replacing the pigs.
I feel that after this government is ellected out of office then the new government will cancel the contract and look into a more serious option, I mean stacked up against such planes as the Typhoon and the Rafael or even the Gripen the F-35 really is nothing but a buzz jet with promises of glory but actually delivering nothing at all, not even to it’s host nation! Should Australia and indeed any other nation, really consider the F-35 as their next platform, then the US is going to have to give ground and supply all that it has or nothing at all, why are we paying for them to develope the best equipment only to get a down rated piece of garbage which can be upgraded later, it’s just not right!
Taj: Would the IAC consider the Mi-24/35 as a contender for either requirement or is that not a vaild question due to the age of the machine?
Dan: Mate IIRC the reason for the different paint jobs on the FAM’s three Arava’s is because the two camo ones are used for everyday troop transport and military stuff, the Olive drab one is more of a special transport one used for moving government officials around the country!
Ever read a book called “Falcon” in it someone has stolen the blue prints of a new plane that is a co-op between Britain and Italy, the plane looks something like a Jag but has Vstol just like a Harrier, China is interested in the plane and has preordered something like 340 of them.
Hmm this is an interesting call from you burger! I hope it stays serious!
In this case I’d go for the YF-23 as my main defender backed up with the Javlin HDF and work on some other projects.
Well I know for a fact that the US has had their pants beaten off them for a number of years when they flew against the RAAF, in the end the American forces insisted that they split their forces evenly between attacking and defending sides.
Also I was watching a documentry about a retired USAF general who made up the best excercises only to be fired later for failing to make the outcomes more favourable to US forces. In other words, the only ones that think the US armed forces are the best are the top brass who won’t let pride fail! The truth is, no mater how good your equipment is you need a certain truth about how realistic your forces capabilities are, anything less and you get the word laughing at you knowing that you are not as good as claimed!
Hi Gaz, how’s Dunedin at the moment?
This is part of the X-Plane comp (I take it you are aware of that) anyway part of the X-Plane comp is to build a practicle space transporter for reusable flight with a new type of fuel that won’t drain on the current stocks focil fuels.
The SpaceShip One plane uses a fuel made from rubber products this is the first serious contender in the X-Plane comp that has actually made it into sub-orbit! I seriously doubt that it would be long before Burt Rultan gets things into orbit!
Evan: mate please share some of the stories, i’m interested in it, I love the look of the plane but practicle realities are more important than looks I know!
Indeed welcome mate and thanks for pointing out those faults, that came directly from the BBC website today!
Oh and I like the icon, kind of reminds me of Marvin the paranoid andriod!
