If you ever get lost or want confirmation on Orbats (Order of Battle- Units in service and bases) try looking up Web Scramble. It’s a dutch guy who keeps very acurate records of all flying machines in service with all countries around the world.

I found one pic of the manouver I mentioned before, this is what I was talking about, sorry it’s not big.

This is the wheel barrow manouver, they do this along the entire length of the runway and then pull up at the end and fly off, like I said, really interesting but no practicle use

With all this chatter about what the PLAN has and how much blah blah blah, would the RoCN really have a chance if the Mainland wanted to roll in? The RoCN is based on old service types because no one is willing to sell new equipment to Taiwan for fear of upsetting China. It’s rediculous, honestly. If I were the President of Taiwan, I would force the issue with the world, either accept us, or don’t, don’t give us cast offs especially in the face of such a fearsome threat that China is obviously presenting.

The P12 was originally designed to strafe beach areas just prior to troops landing. It was in all essence a highly effective Army support plane.

what ever happened to the Ekip? That program looked really promising I remember they tested a scale model and it flew with better preformance than they expected.

Not that I didn’t believe you or anything but you are right, after checking I find that the Viking has a MTOW of just under 22Tonnes and the Raf 24.5Tonnes, facinating, well in that case there should be no issues about the weight of the plane on the cat. Deck run how ever is another story.

I think the question would more likely be, could CdG operate such a heavy plane? It might be able to take an unloaded one but one that is tanked up and ready to act as a tanker would weight sooo much that it might not be able to be shot off the deck.

If it could be used then would the US-3 also be an option, there are a few of them sitting at AMRAC (15 IIRC)

Mate these are a good range of shots including the other ones, don’t see any pics of the Aussie stuff there and we are one of the busiest countries helping out, more troops are on their way over there now (another 300). And soon you’ll see the Aussie C-17’s in action 😉 Speaking of which, do the RAF C-17’s still fly in there?
