Sorry Mate, I really must disagree with you here, Here’s a pic of HMS Velox which is Wolsey’s sister ship and in the same class.

Not the dual level guns. A and B turrets. the pic shown originally has one level forward of the bridge. The bridge structure is all wrong also as are the funnels. The main thing to go by is the dual steam horns attached to the front of the forward funnel.

HMS Wallace it must be… She was the only “Shakespear class” to be upgraded to Fast Escort class with the dual four inch guns in the shielded turret forward. The only thing that gets me is the number on the side :confused:

I happen to agree with King Jester on this case, sure Chilie is a powerful nation, or will be after the introduction of the Dukes, but why make them more powerful? You also have to remember that Chilie couldn’t get financing for the F-16’s for it’s airforce so where is all this money coming from? Cooper can’t be the only thing providing it’s income!

I feel that all eight ships in the AdC will have a common armourment fitout where this be 3′ guns or 4.5′ guns (though it’s doubtfulif the Dutch ships can carry the 4.5’s). Missiles will take the same form, common across the fleet, though electronics will differ with each ship class. Where they get the money for this common fleet upgrade program is beyond me.

The new OPV’s are an interesting deal, we spoke briefly about them before, Argentina is also looking for some and I posed a question about a joint program to save on costs. Sadly both nations are not in a position to undertake such a venture either monetarily or politically.

Should Chilie look at increasing it’s present down south, they are going to need vessels that are good in the Southern Ocean and also they are going to have to imporve their amphib fleet and their refueling fleet.

Are they also going to buy new helos of operate off these ships? The UK has a few spare Lynx that are for sale, I’ve just been reading about them (Aparently no one bought a couple that were up for sale so the tender process has been extended).

The Wair conversion refers to the W class receiving an upgraded anti air armourment mainly to counter the FW-200 Condor attacks in the North Atlantic (W class, Air action vessel), as soon as I find a reference to this, I’ll post it (I only know this because my grandfather told me about these ships, he was a merchie during the war).
