Now: will someone please try the same transplant in the slightly earlier Tempest? Same number of blades this time, and who cares if they spin in the wrong direction if it gets one of those glorious beasts into the air? C’mon somebody…”do Wright” by the longsuffering Tempest!

i thougth that was what autocraft intended to do with one of theirs

thanks steve
slightly ot but does anyone know of the very early bf 109(may be a prototype) that was reported iirc in the mid to late 80’s i remember flypast saying that it was in very poor condition and possibly flattened by a bulldozer.
paul
hi mark
i also find it interesting the article says that they have identified 82 airframes so that could mean alot of current projects and flying aircraft. 🙁 .
a couple that come to mind are the wangaratta p40 (little jeanie ) and the a-20 projects it seems to me that this could be a large threat to the warbird community as a whole (i hope i’m proved wrong ).even some of the deals done with the png museum could be revoked and the restored aircraft be returned with out the buildings being there to protest these lovingly restored aircraft 😡 .
paul(i realy hope to be proven wrong and sanity rules)
The original Ki-61 is being restored and returned to PNG, in the process patterns are being made to create reproductions IIRC
Dave
hi dave
i know that the main ki61 is to return to png but what about the original parts that are being used in the restorations (the a-20 that jdk mentioned is also to return).
as the article seems to imply that the png government is willing to trackdown aircraft and parts that may have left the country under the eyes of the museum and there for going by these articles not by legal means.
i hope to be wrong but this seems to be a threat to many airframes both stored and flying 😡
paul
jdk wouldnt the ki61 at wngaratta also fall into this category.
the way the article is worded they seem to me that other aircraft are being looked into
paul
jdk is there any sign of concern, in the preservation industry across australia as the way i read these articles that the png government may be trying to get back some of those aircraft already recovered or at least prosecute those that recovered them in past, also rob greineirt seems to be coming under a lot of flack from the commitee that wrote this report.
paul
hows this going to effect aircraft that are allready out of the country? as the way i read this the png government has identified a large amount of aircraft(82 i think) that have been recoverd by their words illegely ,could this meen that they intend to try and recover these relics which could include some planes that are allready flying ? 😮
the one’s that come to mind include the p40 little jeanie and the tfc p39. 😡

A real shock and shame.
Brock was a legend in international motorsports.
His design of the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe is a masterpiece. I’m thrilled that it’s currently in series production at long last (a neighbor has one which I occasionally catch sight of). Hopefully it will be a lasting tribute to his genius.Condolences to his family, friends and fans around the world.

the peter brock that just died was not the pete brock that designed the daytona coupe but an aussie racing legend,he won the biggest race on the australian racing calander 9 time and was australian touring car champ 3 times.
ironicley he was killed in a daytona replica built in australia 🙁

i have no problem with the world wide market of warbirds and i’m impressed with the finished aircraft that is jg891 i was just hoping that it would be in it’s raaf finish.
having said that she looks beutiful just as she is .
btw two of the imports have an australian conections,
rm 797 was flown during the war by tony gaze australia’s first f-1 driver.
tb863 was operated by a european raaf sqdrn(can’t recall which one but was mentioned in the paper when the import was anounced).
paul
ps i quit now 😎
Exported or imported to Australia?
Mark
exported
mkv now at usaf museum
mkviii now with robs lamplough
paul
none of them have
intrestingly none of the mkv’s in that pic have  does anyone know why ? as i thought that all the oz mkv’s that whent into combat had them fitted
i think two complete or near complete ones (1 mkvand 1 mkviii) iirc
paul
one the oz mkv’s (ee606 iirc)ended up painted as one of bader’s and was destroyed not long after killing charles church
