I was invited to the Time Team dig.

Strangely Bushell’s maps, marked with his name, were found in wreck of Klipsch’s Spitfire.

This begs the question had Bushell loaned his maps, or even his regular Spitfire, to Klipsch on that day.

I vaguely remember someone with your likeness being spoken to by Tony Robinson

“We’ll have none of this funny business here.”

    Tubbs :- “He’s looking for a boy”
    Edward :- “Poofta eh”

The pig sketch makes me cringe each time, but it’s great.

    “We didn’t burn him”

“Goodnight Sweetheart” – First series was ok-ish but after that it became a too soapy, and unfunny (or unfunnier!).

Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister, The Royle Family, Game On, My Family are some more to keep an eye out for.

“Gimme, Gimme, Gimme” and the American audiance. Discuss. 😀 Even the Brits have trouble with this one!!

I would think A League of Gentlemen would be totally lost on our Colonial friends as would Little Britain (going its name alone).

A very outstanding lawyer before the war…also what type of aircraft was he flying when he was shot down early in war. I have read he was in a Hurricane and a Spitfire….what type..fighter or bomber ?
    Thanks ! BlueNoser352!

May 23rd 1940 Sqd Ldr Bushell was flying 92 Sqn Spitfire Mk1 N3194, though several publications claim it was a Hurricane, this is due in the main to an error made by J Vance in his book, A Gallant Company.

Bushell was shot down in the same sortie as Sgt Paul Klipsch, whose Spitfire was the subject of the excavation by the Time Team programme in France in 1999/2000.

Prior to this Bushell had acted as defence counsel for two pilots John Freeborn and Paddy Bryne who were involved in the ‘Battle of Barking Creek’ court martial. He won and they were acquitted.

I was going to visit last year on my way back from my hols but ‘No Photography’ put me of. Went to the Zoo instead…. 🙁

Personally I would rather had gone to Hawkinge than the Zoo, ban or no ban.

I think Tangmere has the same policy.

Maybe a better option would be to charge a nominal fee for the use of cameras.

I think they sell pictures of the museum themselves to help bolster the revenue

AAs for Pope Benedict XVI… He’s 78 already, I guess they don’t expect him to be around for the official launch of the Vatican’s Condom vending machine ?

I won’t ask for the franchise then ???

No problem with him being German, a few Allied airmen may have an issue with his first job just outside Munich in the 1940’s.

It’s going to take a few generations before the ultra conservatives are pushed aside and a Pope willing to change is finally elected.
