It’s a Rolls Royve Meteor, not a Merlin 🙂 I used to work with the chap who built it, it’s an incredible thing to behold, but is pretty pointless really 😀

And as I said, I’m not claiming the 110 was a better night fighter than the Mossie. It WAS deadlier in the respect it had a much higher kill count, and was obviously a great night fighter.

I think that title belongs to the Mosquito.

From what I gather, the NF Mosquito kills tally to somewhere between 700 and 1000. The 110 claims some 2500 ish. I personally think the Mosquito was a better night fighter, but on the number of kills it doesn’t even come close.

Despite flying in daylight against heavily defended industrial targets. If not, it’s a different matter than hiding under the cover of darkness and dumping bombs in the general vicinity of a city. I’ll leave that in to be controversial. 🙂

Do you mean like when the USAAF indiscriminately firebombed Tokyo? 😉

    BF110

It’s often remembered for being the victim of Spitfires and Hurricanes during the Battle of Britain, and its work as probably the deadliest night fighter of the war is often overlooked.

The resin used in the construction is coming apart. All the signs are there…

However much you might want to, we cannot go to war because IS destroyed some antiquities and raped a few women. Beheading hostages and murdering people in creative ways is also a rather poor excuse, since they are not the only ones in that area who kill and torture based on a disagreement over race or creed

Without a doubt the single most disgusting thing I’ve ever read on what is normally a pretty civil and respectful forum.

You claim some moral authority, and then disregard the suffering of people in such a cold hearted way? You ought to be ashamed.

The UK is not under “serious threat” from ISIS or anyone else for that matter. That someone could confuse a bunch of ragtag terrorists staging the occasional atrocity in fair England with a serious threat to the nation indicates just how skewed perceptions have become. The only serious threat to the nation or the welfare of its people comes from its response to terrorism.

And I was under the impression that the UK wanted out of Europe anyway. 😉

    Deliberately watering down the issue?

Isis are just a symptom of a larger problem – the incompatibility of Islam with liberal democracies.
