It is in fact one of the many reasons the UK populance and their elected representatives need to extract their collective heads from their rear ends and take responsibility for the environment and society they have collectively created and stop blaming anyone but themselves.

Joining the EEC was a huge mistake, and that is something that we should be taking responsibility for. Ratifying treaties that have created the aggressive socialist superstate is something else we should be deeply ashamed of.

The immigrants do not want to stay in France, they want to make it to the UK as they perceive the UK’s regime to be more beneficial for them than France’s or other places in Europe.

How that is France’s issue or anywhere else in Europe’s issue or the EU’s issue collectively is beyond me. It is a UK issue of UK making.

Britain sewed the seeds of this problem long before the creation of the EU. We exported out culture and our language across the world, and so of course people want to come here from all over the world.

Why should other nations have to pay a considerable cost to secure, as you put it, their borders from persons who have no interest in staying in those countries but wish to go to another country, the UK, that they perceive as offering them a better life?

Border policing is one of the primary functions of any government. This is the flaw with your Schengen zone, it does not allow for national security, and is an utter farce. I could drive from one end of Europe to the other with a Nuclear weapon, without anyone batting an eyelid. It is beyond ridiculous, made even worse by the fact that Turkey is soon to be admitted to your little club, a country we know to have assisted groups like IS.

It is well within the powers of UK politicans to pass law that prevents assistance or benefits going to illegal immigrants for either an extended period post arrival or ever. Do that, publicise it, pay the cost of rounding up and deporting illegal immigrants and ensure that the hardships of being an illegal immirgant in the UK are well publicised in those countries wence they come and you will see a reduction in such traffic.

I doubt you understand what these people are going through. They aren’t vermin, they’re humans who are treated like animals by the French. Do you really think a little publicity is going to make any difference to someone who has escaped their homeland for fear of death? What a joke.

EU problem my ****. UK problem created by UK people.

Its funny how the UK pays for your little socialist club, yet when we object to anything about it, we seem to get labelled as a problem.

We have a saying here – ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds you’. That is exactly what our European neighbours are doing to us, and the reason for such anti EU feeling in the UK.

Both of them wouln’t be too difficult provided lots of present servicemen come from Scotland and a few of them could be lured to swap to a new estabilished scottish service by a fair mix of national pride, pay rise and improved career.

    :highly_amused::highly_amused::highly_amused::highly_amused:

Improved career? Leaving one of the most respected, best equipped armed forces in the world, to go to what would shortly become a second rate home defense force?

History suggests that the US hasn’t always taken kindly to European aircraft that make it question it’s view of the aviation world.

    Exactly this.

So effectively, we’re to be punished, because France and the other EU nations can’t control their borders?

These people are illegal immigrants in France, what has it got to do with us? If they need asylum, it should be in one of the countries they pass through to get here.

One of many reasons why that socialist paradise across the channel can never work.

Of all the discussions on this forum about various modern military types, I can’t let the 60th anniversary of the Herc go by unmentioned. August 23rd, 1954 was certainly a special day in military aviation history. I’d say the aircraft’s record speaks for itself. If you disagree then I’d like to have your head examined. 🙂

Happy birthday to the mighty Herc!

Of the truly great aircraft that have come from the USA, two stand out above all others, and they’re both transport aircraft. The DC3 and the Hercules.

certainly does not qualify as any sort of murdering despot in the OPs query.

Neither was Thatcher, so I thought the thread could use some balance. 😀

But there is a complete lack of privacy, which makes secret cabals difficult to maintain.

I’m not suggesting it could be a problem, it is currently a serious issue that is getting worse. Privacy or no, this is happening.

Our compassion is not to lower ourselves to their level and give them a few seconds of pain before discovering that paradise doesn’t exist, it is to let them suffer day after day of boredom in a paradise of blandly painted brick walls in a smelly shared cell, lousy cooking and abuse from other prisoners for the rest of their miserable lives.

But that only contributes to yet another issue – growing Islamic fundamentalism in our prison system. You can’t totally isolate them, because that is against their human rights.

We could of course adopt the extremely condescending notion that all these people require is some education, but I welcome anyone to approach these people and explain to them that their way of life is immoral.

Sadly, there are always people who words alone will not reach. IS are such a group. If we treasure life, liberalism, democracy and all of the other things we take for granted in the West, then it is our responsibility to fight for them when necessary. You can be sure that our enemy will fight for their beliefs.

Breaking a few eggs? That’s peoples lives you’re talking about. Nice analogy though, the Euro combined with open door immigration across the continent is destroying peoples lives, communities and livelihoods.

Do you think that Germany is going to let the Southern States rival it’s manufacturing industry? The EU is using the southern and eastern states to suppress wages all across the EU, which we are even feeling in the UK.

The further the EU states move towards federalization, the more distant democracy becomes. Powers should be devolved to member states, as is happening with the various nations in the United Kingdom. The EU is only interested in gaining more power, even though it is becoming increasingly unpopular.

The cultural differences between the North and the South of England are miniscule when compared to their EU counterparts.

Do the people of Portsmouth retire a good 10 years earlier than those in Blythe? Then expect a full state pension, even though their populations are aging?

When did the people of Leamington Spa start taking 2 hour siestas during the middle of the day?

The Euro is strangling these Southern states, had they separate national currencies, they would naturally devalue. I won’t subscribe to the notion that a ‘one size fits all’ system can be applied to such a broad variety of cultures. Perhaps the economies of the Southern European states are fine though, and I’m simply misreading all of the signs?

Perhaps we should try celebrating the things that make us all different, instead of having to apologize for them all of the time?

Tried to achieve too many goals and didn’t achieve any.

It was in the prototype stages. It wasn’t ready for service, so that is frankly a ridiculous statement.

As has been said, it was showing great promise when it was cancelled. Sadly, it never got the opportunity to realize its full potential.
