To stay polite as Sens would say 😉 why would you make such a statement based on the evidence? We have the radar track and the Turks themselves say the helicopter was at 14,200 feet!
….and even if the Syrians were mad enough to do that (and they’re not!) there are better ways of deploying CW than simply throwing cannisters of chemical agents from a Mi-17 helicopter at 14,000 feet!
And you consider this mad scheme to deliver CW at this height 3 miles up chucked out from a helicopter possible and a “real threat”?! And why would the Syrians cross the border into Turkey to wage chemical warfare in full glare of the world?
I don’t think the Syrian regime are responsible for the major chemical attack, and I don’t think that particular MI17 was taking part in such actions. I was merely pointing out that there is video evidence on the internet of an MI17 dropping chemical agents onto rebels, and so an MI17 can be counted as a credible threat.
Surely, a regular flightpath could be used until the last possible minute, and then the helicopter diverted to a target?
I’m not taking sides, just pointing out that there may have been reasons that aren’t immediately obvious to us.
Great pictures, and what a collection. I like the way the Stuka is displayed.
What’s the wing from that they’re positioning the Merlin against in the first picture?
Also, is the front end of that JU88 a mock up?
it is more productive if china and taiwan forces work together to destroy japan or vietnam instead.
Do you understand what the word ‘productive’ means?
It looks like it once had green paint, and it was exposed to the elements for a long time?
Whatever they had as professionals like every police-man they had to follow rules or become criminals themselves. The Turkish radar tracking showed they did not follow rules bound to peace-time. That Mi-17 in question never posed a real threat as the Turkish radar tracking showed. In the case of the F-4RF before the situation was much different.
Theres video evidence of Syrian forces dropping canisters of chemical agents from an MI-17, I would class that as a “real threat”.
Japan would not get involved due to anti war policy of the Japanese people. India is ruled by the Aryan elite from Iran, and Iran is an ally of China. India therefore would ally with China.
I suggest you change your username to ‘Bulldust’
No
AFAIK it’s the only M1 model with a fridge
The Challenger comes with Tea making facilities! 😀
It was also nice to see the museum site hosting a wedding, I hope the happy couple enjoyed their day!
They absolutely loved it. Everyone commented on what a great venue it is for a wedding. I’m up at 4am to take the happy couple to another airfield – Leeds Bradford 😀
The York Evening Press will be printing an article this week on the wedding, which will hopefully be a great advertisement for the museum.
Nonsense.
Are you trying to say Rafale wasn’t designed for Cold war era threats?
Considering F35 has never been tested in combat, or even mock combat against a Rafale, you’re making a lot of assumptions. Rafale is a relic of a bygone age, F35 was designed for the kind of conflicts that are common today.
Terrific photos, thanks for posting. Lovely to see the Halifax outside and a great opportunity taken. Hangars are dark places when it comes to photography and there’s only so much you can do to get round the problem.
Thanks 🙂
I totally agree with your sentiment, getting the aircraft outside really brings the museum to life. I wish they could do it more often, but I fully understand the concerns for the aircraft, and the financial penalty of doing this regularly.
Perhaps (and I may suggest this in person) they could arrange to get the BBMF Lancaster to make a short stop at Elvington at some point, for an outdoor photoshoot with the Halifax. That would certainly draw a crowd.
I won’t be able to spare much time on Sunday due to wedding commitments, but I’ll do my best to pop down at 3ish. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen Lindy run.
My family live in Elvington, and I only live 5 minutes away from the museum, so it shouldn’t be too hard to sneak off for a few minutes! 😀
And a DC3 being towed.

With my sisters Wedding there this weekend, I’m being given plenty of excuses to visit YAM. 🙂
Today I arrived to find Mr Agar refitting one of the Mosquitoes props.

The Halifax has plenty of room around her at the moment
