I think I mentioned this once before on the forum, but amazingly the original designs for the bridge included a glass floor!

Now that would have been too much for a lot of people.

    Cheers Mark,

I haven’t flown on a Q400 yet and am off to GCI sometime in the next few weeks, so I might try to catch one instead of the GR ATR72.

That was quick, thanks Elgan. That’s what I was hoping you would say.

    Tom,

You must have had smoke coming off your shutter finger with all those shots.

Always interesting to see what people think of flying with BA. Shame you didn’t get to walk over the new LGW bridge. I gather from people that have it’s very impressive.

I always love the views flying in and out of NCE.

The groaning sound from the brakes is normal on the 737 so no need for concern, and you are right about the flaps making noise, it’s very noticable in certain parts of the cabin.

    Looking forward to part 2.

Perhaps my previous post wasn’t too well worded. I wouldn’t for one second suggest that people shouldn’t have an opinion, God knows I have plenty of them.

I just felt that Martin didn’t need to see comments of a vitriolic tone on a forum in which he takes part, especially at a time when he will be well aware of the perception caused by any delay to the start-up.

    Damien,

I think I’ll speak for everyone on the forum when I say your comment is really inappropriate.

One of our members is working hard to get his airline off to a great start, he really doesn’t need to see comments like that.

I for one look forward to trying out Alpha1 very soon.

So how many TUIfly airlines are there now?

Come to think of it should they all have the name TUIfly instead of all the variations?

Interesting that the seats aren’t leather on that aircraft. The VLM website makes quite a big deal out of the ‘all leather seating’.

At Air Europe we weren’t allowed to use the word Fokker when talking to passengers especially on the PA. When they were first introduced a few people mis-heard and complained about bad language. After that it was always referred to as the ‘F100’.

OneLeft made a comment about more rejection than acceptance but that isnt always true you may get lucky like I did and get offered 2 jobs from seperate companies.

I was talking specifically about applying to be Cabin Crew. Having never done any other job for an airline I can’t comment on applying for anything else.

    Tom,

As you can see from my signature I am Cabin Crew for British Airways, having worked for a few other airlines before joining BA.

Airlines look mostly for experience of customer service jobs. Things like foreign languages or nursing experience also help but aren’t essential. Mostly you need determination as this is still a very sought after job, and you are likely to get more rejection than acceptance when making applications.

The job has changed a lot in the years I have been flying, but it still beats working for a living.

They won’t have to bmi-star. The whole BA operation will be in T5.

If people arrive on other carriers at T1 and need to get to T5 they will use the usual buses, underground or express.
