Just wondering Sarah… Do you have a boyfriend called Tommy?

other airlines arrive at almost identical final prices by imposing charges in different ways.

You really have that the wrong way round, Ryanair ‘arrive’ at the prices that some other airlines are transparent about from the start.

But okay, you’ve made your point that you have no problem with Ryanair or hidden charges. That’s fine, I agree to disagree.

mgacourt, although I suspect there is more to this story than meets the eye, I am sorry you have had a bad experience.

However, I don’t really think this is the appropriate place to try to continue your mission to stop people from using a particular airline.

Have you perhaps contacted the airline asking for an explanation?

Sarah, it’s difficult to guess from the lettering as airlines often miss some letters out. For example the 767s I fly on have seats
    AC DEF JK.

Thomson do fly two different configurations of aircraft though so yours may be 2-3-2.

I would double check with Thomson again if you really want to be sure.

Of course people compare Ryanair to other airlines

I think Paul meant no one is comparing them in this particular thread.

I’m not sure how long you’ve been flying for 1L

Before FlyMonarch gets in with a sarcastic comment, let’s just say a long time!

just literally increase the fare. I really would much rather see that than yet another charge

Intersestingly I’ve just been booking some LGW NQY tickets.

WOW started as £29.00 one way, which ended up as a total of £58.00 return.
BE started as £2.79 one way, which ended up as a total of £57.98 return.

Much as I think BE are a great airline and fly direct, not via PLH, as a matter of principle I have booked with WOW.

They probably get a lot of panicked “This or that is happening” comments from passengers

That’s certainly true, especially from the ‘I probably fly more than you’ businessmen.

I can understand the Cabin Crew’s first reaction.

Not sure I agree. I would never dismiss a claim like that wthout at least asking the guy to show me what he was seeing and passing what I saw back to the flight crew.

As for the guy being a hero. If he hadn’t been on board I’m sure the flight crew would have worked out for themselves what was going on. The article implies that the captain knew they were losing fuel but was just going try for japan anyway!

So am I getting this right? (I’m not sure I can be!) If you print your own ticket they charge you 10 euros, if you don’t they charge you 40 euros. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t!

So if someone books a sector online, checks in online, prints their own boarding card at home and travels handluggage only what would they be charged over and above the cost of the flight?

    1L.

Edit: I’ve just realised we are talking boarding cards, not tickets. The example I asked about would just pay the cost of the ticket. Still don’t see why they should charge someone for checking themself in at a SSK!

    Jet2 are buying them?! :diablo:

Many a true word said in jest!

The often talked about Virgin/bmi combination makes sense, but SMB is looking to sell, not merge and in this climate can Virgin (or indeed anyone else) afford to buy?

That’s a pity, I know FlyMonarch has used this service and said it was fantastic.

I wonder if BA CityFlyer may give the route a try. I know they have looked at it in the past.

Don’t suppose you got a pic of either BA321 EUXE or BA320 EUUC today did you Lance?

    Thanks,

the airport authority to provide decent catering…

That’s for the airline to arrange, not the airport, but fair point all the same.

the Indian members of the flight were given the hotel and such hours after the other passengers were accommodated.

I’m sure these would all have been arranged at the same time, as I said before the issue would have been with getting the correct visas from the Indian authorities to allow the poeple to enter the country in order to go to the hotels.

you’re (I can only assume and I apologise if that assumption is wrong) criticising.

Not criticising, merely observing. Apology accepted 😉

it appears to take quite a while from landing to the evacuation starting

I would say it’s about the length of time I would expect. Under these circumstances the cabin crew would not start an evacuation until told to by the flight crew. The flight crew would be busy with shutting down the engines, checklists, liasing with ATC, emergency services and ground services and establishing if there was a need to evacuate.

I particulalry like the guy who’s papers drop out of the bag he’s brought with him, so he casually sits on the bottom of the slide to gather it all up!

The one I like is the guy in Blue (I think) who comes out of the overwing quite early on, gets to the edge of the runway then starts filming on his mobile. It amazes me that people would even think to do that.

    1L.
