From conversations with relevant people a few months back, her nose will be correctly removed and preserved for use as a crew trainer, u/c legs are allocated, as are the engines, almost all panels, fin, etc. When the jcb does move in to remove the spars, there won’t be much left.

Why weren’t the police called immediately, citing use of guns? SWAT would have been there in seconds!

This has always boiled my blood. Where was everone? I am not going to spend my money getting further items (ie. paint, etc) for 319 until there is guarantee that this will not happen again. Get proper security, and I will contine getting new perspex made. Until then, no chance. Semi Hogg was supposed to be getting some high trees to protect her a little – where are they?

    Sorry guys, I’m fuming!

Afternoon Guys, I’m coming up to your part of the world sometime next month. In laws visit to make! Roughly how long would it take to get to you from Scarborough? I’ll try and see if I can persuade the Mrs to let me drive a few extra miles.
    Thanks

    1.5 – 2.0 hours.

NEAM is 1 hour north of Thirsk (on a good run) on the A19 at Sunderland. Take the 2nd Nissan turn (Nissan Offices). Turn left on the A19 exit, left again at the lights, and left again towards the Three Horseshoes Pub. Go past it, and NEAM is 100 yards on the left.

All the above may be true, but it doesn’t prevent Mike Beachy Head from operating four of them at Thunder City in South Africa. If he can do it then so can others. Perhaps South Africa doesn’t have a CAA organisation.
    Geoff.

Of course it has an aviation authority. Its just got different rules to ours.

Did 231 see any service out in the Gulf in ’91 during Desert Storm?

Yes – she has several petrol pumps applied to her nose as ‘kills’ as well as two rabbits… (the rabbits were in the early ground running days….)

Try Gray’s Aero – they currently do BA’s airliners, emirates, etc. As soon as we get our JP’s in the hangar, we are going to get Grays to produce a full set of masks. They do normal paint masks or polyurathane stickers. They seem very keen on classic aircraft….:D

I saw them at Finningly in ’92 with F-18s and C-130 support. Got a feeling they may have appeared at Leuchars on the same day/weekend.

I’m pretty sure they stayed at Finningly. That said, I was 14 and my memory is now shot……

Is ‘724 now owned by a single person then….??

Originally it was purchased by members of the Lightning Association on a shareholder basis @ 300 quid a share, but I know things went pear-shaped when the LA fell apart in what appeared to be accrimonious circumstances in the mid-90’s…..so did ownership pass to a single individual after a number quit and wanted their 300 back..??

I’m guessing CR may be the sole owner now then….?

CR is the chairman of the LA….

Binbrook01 – my apologies. You are correct – money and time can solve anything! Here’s a question – do any Lightning transport jigs exist? Say, for example, a lightning is stripped in the correct manner, will the sections need to be mounted in a special jig to retain structural integrety?
