They don’t just hand out the cash, you have to submit a bid!

The first thing they check is whether you’re a Registered [now to be Accredited] Museum and ask to see your Collection and Disposal Policy; new guidelines for which are currently being introduced!

agreed – the one thing we must remember is that aviation museums are such a tiny speciallised part of the overall heritage product. When trying to secure funding, one of the major aspects is being able to pull in tourists from different regions and even international visitors. Funding is rarely given for heritage products which simply diversify the attractions in one area. Even those who apparently GIVE money away are looking at the bigger picture – speculate to accumulate.

Hats off to Millom, but BE CAREFUL – don’t end up with a massive collection of random aircraft. Try to get / remain focussed. (Oh and NEAM have a Shorts 330)

Millom, have you managed to secure a real future for Mrs. M’s collection of bits, ie. the swift? NEAM were never able to restore the aircraft, and it always had to be publicly viewable… Always a big thorn…

The one in Belgrade appears to have its outer wings on, although there is no date attached to the photo….

    Hello
I am looking for a friend information on the bombing of this English seaside town in World War Two.
On looking on the net I found two dates,

    July 27 1942.

    January 6 1943.

Any help please sadly the 1943 raid looks like it resulted in the lose of 9 English live including four person under the age of 17.

    Yours
    11 group

Baedekker (?) raids were fairly common in Yorks, Lincs throughout 42 and 43. Perhaps Mablethorpe could have been a target of opportunity as well as having the two ‘proper’ raids as mentioned. Just a thought.

Agreed, the BAPC have published a Rolls Royce engine list, but it is reasonably old now and I’m not sure of the availability. Contact the secretary and ask.

US military! Tell me more. I might have to charge the batteries of my camera… and especially since I guess I’ll have to pay to get in now….:D

I’ve been corresponding with Merkle, and while I’m too far away to help fix a fence, I may be able to help in other ways later on. Best of luck with the set up!

    Congratulations on the promotion.

What is definately booked for the first fly in? I know about the Metro FM Starburst One R22, the Police’s heli… what others? Just since I’ve heard rumours of some fairly exotic and interesting stuff coming…..

My nomination for room 101 would be:

Shorts 330/60. A box with wings – completely useless as an airliner when there were much nicer HS748s or F50s available… Nasty to work on, and as aerodynamic as a fridge.

Mystere – not as good as a Hunter, oh and French…;) If only they had bought real aircraft from the UK industry…

    I agree with the Tonado F3… 1 flight = 30 snags

Again, no disrespect meant (even to the French!) just my personal take…:D

I saw the news item during the local news section of Breakfast Time. Stated that the airshow had ran out of money so this weekend’s Thunder Weekend would be one of the only chances people would have to see ‘Lusty Lindy’ roll along the runway. A case of misinformed journalism in my opinion. With the next scheduled airshow due to take place in 16 months time, I hardly think the organisers would have decided to call it a day just yet!

Air show aside, Lindy is run several times during the year, so that really is misinformed journalism.
Next years airshow should be alot bigger and better than previous years. They have made the right decision IMHO

Bit late for an April fool, don’t you think? No airworthy Victors in the world, now and for the foreseeable future.

If you mean Vulcan B2, then again it must be hopefull supposition as TVOC have constantly said that they would not be able to confirm 100% until they have the permit to fly.

    next please………..:D

LF363 was on strength with the RAF prior to the BBMF et al, but PZ865 was retained by Hawker with the civil Reg, but was allocated the military reg during construction.

    I think….

What about me πŸ˜€ They wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for me:)

    Chris

    Sorry Chris!

Way back in the early pages of this thread, Chris put his money where his mouth was and actually started the whole Vulcan project. It went from a case of ‘we might look at the Vulcan someday’ to ‘We will fix this aircraft starting now’.

He should be recognised as the catalyst for the whole event, and my personal gratitude goes to him and the rest of the team for making things work! Well done all.

    Over and Out (this time…):D
