First row – aircrew – no explanation needed (but seems to include the CO, his WAAF, and probably the adjutant

Second row (and the 3 guys behind the bomb truck) – ground crew – maintenance engineers of Airframes / Propusion / Electrics / Armourers / etc

Third Row – Ground support staff – Bowser drivers, medical staff, opsies, inteligence…etc.

    just a thought

    Last Update 2 April 2008

Well ladies and gents, this is my last update for NEAM. I hope Scott or someone will take over my mantle as this forum has been fantastic! I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread, put up with my incessant waffle, and generally been helpful to both NEAM and myself. I’m not leaving the forum, but I have a new project to manage. News on this soon.

My personal thanks to the team at NEAM. Best of luck for the future – there may be some good developments regarding rent and land soon.

    So without further ado:

Lightning – fin and spine work on going

Hamilton Picket Fort – painted black……..

Chipmunk – the rear fuse is being stripped to bare metal in my workshop at Newcastle College, and by July should be repaired and mated to the cockpit in preparation for the final paint.

Swift, Firefly and Balliol parts – gone to RAF Millom (see RAF Millom updates thread). Best of luck guys….

Vulcan: My baby has had her rear wheels overhauled and they are now holding pressure a bit better than they were. At least they won’t corrode for a while. The spine work is ongoing (as ever). I’m handing the reigns to John Race, Grant and Michael Jordan who have been the team from Newcastle Aviation Academy. I’ll keep feeding them info and advice when it is called for, but best of luck! Still no news on the paint….:(

    Thanks again, Over and Out

    LL

It would be great to get her and BBMF’s baby Spit up to Eshott at some point in the reletively near future. If we could nab IWM Lambeth’s Spit, we could make it a nice Eshott Trio….

Amazing work – well done. (And nice to see a little of Northumberland’s heritage back in the air again – yes I know she’s representative of her time at Hawarden, but there’s Northumberland in the air….)

I have just heard a RUMOUR (is that clear enough) that the Brigand may be joining the rest of Mrs. Moran’s aircraft. It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds. For the new guardians, IF possible, please keep us updated as to what happens with that collection of airframes.

Thanks for the update. Please keep us informed as to what is happening there, as I for one will watch what you do with EXTREME interest…:D

Here’s a list of EASA Members

DAmn. The smell of Lightnings has faded.

Cheers BR – I struggle with the CAA website, letalone EASA’s nightmare…

Is South Africa subscribed to EASA yet? Or does the member state constitute ONLY those in Europe. (I only ask as Singapore airlines is EASA 145 capable, as are a few in the Arabian Gulf….)

Dornier 355 at the Udvar Hazy centre, Dulles. What a sound that thing must have made. Closely followed by the Valiant at Hendon…

Would anyone care to post/comment about their bet for the airshow of the future?

Will we see private gas guzzlers like F-15, F-14, Tornado and F-111 pleasing the crowd at Duxford in 2025?

Will big boys like C-130 and B-52 operate like the WWII bombers do today?

    Will ex-military helicopters appear?

    My own little list include:

    SAAB T-17 (MFI-15 Safari).

    SAAB 105.

    Short Tucano.

    BAE Hawk.

    Aermacchi MB-339.

Hopefully the vintage aircraft of today will continue to fly also 😎

The likes of Tornado won’t fly in the UK. All I have to say is Re-heat, and the CAA have a heart attack.

Hawk – yes. It has manual flight controls
    Tucano – same
MB339 – not exactly a big airshow favourite at the minute, but as a private aircraft, yes.
Military helicopters generally have a poor safety record due to the environment they operate in, and as such, the CAA will have a dim view of their operation – Gazelles, yes. Sea Kings – no.

    Thats my input anyway….:D

What is a modification is this repairing something that is broken of just a quick beef up? ……………….

A modification is an engineering instruction which involves changing something in relation to its original design. During the course of the life of an aircraft, thousands of modifications will be embodied – from changing a bolt type, to changing the design of the main spar. Modifications generally need authority from the manufacturers / holders of the design authority. It might be nothing – like I said, when I was down there talking engineering, nothing was mentioned about any further mods, only OOPS and scheduled maintenance.

so we have had aviation connections with rails and tracks – my guess would be that the turbine is something nautical – a patrol boat or something similar. A marine gas turbine (similar engine type to an aircraft?)

Will the Firefly sections be staying at Neam????

apparently not. I’ve only heard rumours on the same grapevine as PP, but apparently its Mrs. M’s collection that will be leaving. Balliol cockpit, firefly sections and swift.

HMS Vulture, you know as well as I do that Mrs M thinks these pieces are worth far in excess of what they actually are. There are two hopes of a private individual aquiring them – Bob and No.:D The future recipients of these aircraft sections will have similar problems as NEAM in so far as no work will be allowed to take place. The Brigand is testamony to that.

Rumour control is rife up our end of the country….!
