concorde one doesn’t seem quite right. The switch positions and mountings are right, but the layout of the grips seems different. Production Concordes’ grips seem to be separate assemblies to the yoke itself, or atleast fixed at 90 deg to the ‘y’ shaped column.

if it doesn’t work, cut and paste….

Maybe it is a pre production one!

Gutted about the TSR2 one….. I was contemplating that one, but I thought ‘how the devil would he get hold of a TSR2 column?……’ Damn.

    Good fun though! More please

I’ve offered to provide a home for some items – even just tempory loan! Its terrible that a popular musum has been forced to close its doors because of a third party (… well, land owner). BAM have been silent so far, so lets hope that they can work out what they are going to do. I’m sure we can all help in various ways until such time as they either find a new home or dissolve the collection.

Anyone heard anything at all from them?

What about the other static exhibits? What of their future?

Try Adams Aviation Supplies – I don’t have price lists for them, or even a web-address, but googling them will find what you need. You will have to phone them as they don’t allow random searching of their catalogue. Remember that they supply new certified parts just like LAS, and as soon as you attach a Form 1 to parts, the price triples.

I came across this thread and site from a random google link while looking for something else entirely.
I pretty much grew up at Sunderland airfield – both my parents flew there, as did my grandmother, briefly, in the late 60s and 70s and my father was a flying instructor there.
If anyone is still looking for photos I have quite a lot and I also recently found some old video footage of the airfield and some of the members. I only recognise one, Les Richardson, but the others might be familiar to some of you who mention flying there.

    PM sent.

NEAM are hoping to be able to put our complete archive online over the next few years – something in the region of 10,000 photos! All contributions are always welcome

I believe that is the case also. Without adequate sequencing valves and flow limiters the undercarriage will retract unevenly – the pressure will move the leg which has less friction first. Under pressure, fluid will exerpt the same pressure throughout the system, so the part which moves more easily will move first. Does that make sence?

An air aid spotters guide from 1943/4, bought for £5, with a hand written inscription detailing the frst owner’s RAF service and subsequent demise in the last combat loss of 640 Sqn….. I was subseqently posted to the previous owner’s base at RAF Leconfield and this book re-envigorated my interest in avation history. Its priceless to me.

edit: I completely forgot that I have a section of fabric from PA474’s Coventry Major…( part of the Mickey nose art ) and one of the Elevator W/T stencils. Can’t and won’t get rid of them – they mean too much. I had to wait 15 years to work on that aeroplane only to have the experience ruined.

Viscount Runciman’s Original Dress uniform – sold last week to a collector in the US… Quite important to us as Runciman was one of the North Eastern Aviation Pioneers and was part of the formation of 607 Sqn at Usworth. We missed it by a matter of hours…..

Vulcan XM575 at East Midlands has its apu and electrical systems run up on occasions 🙂

The engines in said Vulcan are also runnable but sadly they are not allowed to start them due to noise regulations (and to think its kept at a busy airport).

Also the Buccaneer at East Midlands has working engines but is also unable to be run up for the same reason as the Vulcan.

Similar story at Newcastle International airport. When the aviation academy took delivery of the 737-200, they were informed that they were not allowed to run the engines due to noise levels and the proximity of residential properties, which really ruined their day. They are allowed to run up the APU for the minimum time required. The Vulcan at East Mids would come under the same thing. Noise regulations at airports are very strict regarding regular re-occuring noise (i.e. flights using old jets and sustained ground runs of the same.)

Sorry to all that don’t agree on the paint scheme. I do understand your point of view and agree to a point but like Lindy’s Lad said to fit in our collection it must have a northern connection. As Lightning’s from northern Q, Binbrook opperated in this area, that’s what has been chosen. Again sorry to dissapoint…..

    Regards,

    Phil.

Not my decision I hasten to add. The colour choice was decided long before I took on my present role.

Personally, I think that the lightning is too small and not delta-winged enough to be of any interest to anyone. A nice gloss camo scheme with white undersides and a black radome is what you need………….:D (heaviest aircraft to land at Sunderland Airport and one of the last aircraft to land there – just before anyone starts…)
