Must have been an ATP then. In mitigation I only saw it from the side a mile or so away but figured from its length it wouldn’t be twin engined . Nose didn’t look as pointy as an ATP either

Very sad to hear that Ken has passed away. Was a regular visitor to the forge in the early seventies where he used to weld together the frame of my much abused Raleigh Chopper! Must have had a lot of contacts in the aviation world because one of the highlights of my childhood was being flown to an airshow at Baginton with Ken and my late father, the helicopter [i think G-BAKF] landing in a field next to the the forge. Big event for a 9 year old !

RIP Ken.

Always wondered how the guy with the badly burned face [ sector controller i think] could have made such a fast recovery from his injuries

Its at Foxlands farm, Cosby, Leicestershire. The Dakota emerging through the early morning fog to land last year is still etched in my mind.

Well having seen Agricola G-CBOA fly in to Rearsby on August 25, 2013 it reminded me of when I last such an aircraft. It was at Ken Wooley’s the blacksmith shop and home at Berkswell in early 1973. He took me around his Wickner Wicko G-AFJB/DR613 and showed me his fuselage frame of VP-GAZ an Agricola. All these notes are from memory so excuse any typo’s due to fading memory…..so now a little confused by the apparent conflict with Mike Es notes above.

Was at the bear inn last night and ken’s old hanger is still in the back garden of the forge. Have got a few fond memories of going there with my late father several times in the early seventies, Does anyone know if he has now passed away?

La cupole is worth a visit if you are going dover calais – cherbourg portsmouth or vice versa, its around 4 hours drive from caen so quite a long way.Museum at Mont ormel and the ford at moissy worth a look, if you go via vimoutier you pass the tiger which was recovered a few metres away from where it now sits. Photograghs of the carnage on the road leading up to Mont ormel are very sobering.

Thurlaston..now theres a blast from the past! When I lived there in the late 70’s I counted 48 miltary aircraft in one day……..how things have changed!

still get the occasional Hercules or chinook. With the expansion of BHX guess most military traffic has to route further to the east
