Was it not recovered to a Swedish museum and then reinstated in situ? Slightly twisted logic however it proves the remains could be recovered before they get any worse.
There are certainly no significant areas of trees, just some smaller areas of rowan. I have seen wreckage further away from the crash site presumably spread out from the crash impact but certainly nothing that had any kind of art work. My father recalls coming across a Browning cooling sleeve and a flying boot in the 60’s whilst out walking near the site which must have been dropped by the recovery team.
Was Sleepy Time Gal not a P61?
I distinctly remember making a model of this years ago and painting on some dots to represent upward firing machine guns.
Not quite as I remember it but a bit of googling produces these photos of a Havoc II with 6 upward firing machine guns – scroll down about a third of the page:

Seems to be a plausible explanation.
Duly noted and humbled! After just finishing the wonderful ‘Wheezers and Dodgers’, this scheme looked to be perfectly reasonable.
There’s a Bv 138 in Denmark, certainly not complete but better than nothing
I forget the name, but will look it up- what I can tell you is that it was a plywood design to be used for Kamekazi attacks, the gear was jettisoned after take off- hence the odd appearence.
Nakajima Ki-115 I think? Not sure of the code name however.
If memory serves me correctly it had quite a few different engine types installed.

Looks like the same recovery – cockpit section made it into preservation.
The rear fuselage blisters and vertical stabiliser look like a Betty.
On a related crash site note – this appeared today on Flyvrak, strange how it was recovered, stored for ten years and then put back. Surely one that deserves a roof over its head.

scroll down a bit.
A Baltimore, possibly of 454 RAAF
Pretty sure that Le Bourget had a huge fire mid nineties.
They also managed to use footage of a Manchester whilst discussing the Lancaster bomber stream and sneaked in film of a Sea Hornet landing on a carrier whilst discussing the versatility of the Mosquito.
This site refers to a Norseman

Same site also has some rather gruesome information on an HE 111 that crashed nearby
2. bf 108 (or Nord1002 license built post war in France)
What’s the canopy or turret housing on the shelf behind though? Catalina front turret maybe?
