Just thought i’d echo the sentiments of Papa Lima, Hatton and the many other forum members who share the same views on this thread and the pointless and immature bickering that has bounced around this community for a while now. I refrained from posting a comment earlier because I was actually quite humoured by some of the replies, though now i am less humoured and more concerned at the well being of the community. This thread should be, at least, moved to the general discussion forum or locked or binned altogether.

It’s like a bl**dy school playground in here sometimes!

EDIT: I see it has finally been moved, at least this is a start. Now lets focus on solving the root of the problem.

What a thoroughly enjoyable day as usual! Superb displays by everyone today, but highlights for me had to be Pete Kynsey in TFC’s Corsair – that guy is in the zone! Rob Davies (of course!) in Big B, he uses the backdrop superbly (well he does live there!) and Will Curtis in the Su26, who amazes me everytime i see him, how can man and machine be put through so much punishment! Excellent.

Also lovely to see was the very tight Chipmunk trio, the ‘Red Sparrows’ – he he. I’d like to think Steve Young was up there with them, he would have loved it i’m sure!

So.. Well done all involved in the air and on the ground!

Oh, and Melvyn, i did notice your multiple go-arounds, sounds like you got caught up with the sunday drivers! Lovely to see the Cloudster in the flesh at last, well done she is absolutely gorgeous and a testament to your hard work, patience and determination. Superb!

Looking superb neilly! I was only thinking the other day how you’re getting on with this lovely bird! So… when’s the big day gonna be? Can’t wait to see some aerial shots! In fact, it would be nice to do what we’d said we’d do… My Mick Reeves Spitfire IX has seen a good year’s active service now and is just itching to formate with a Mosquito! he he 😉

Remind me, where do you fly from again?

I’ll be there whatever the weather, missed it last year but went in ’02 and ’03. Always a superb show and excellent value for a tenner! Probably the most personal Airshow i’ve ever been to, it feels like a garden party with wings (and things? :))!

    What terrible news 🙁
I never had the pleasure of meeting Steve, but he seemed like a thoroughly nice chap on this forum. I remember his post about taking Haydn up in the Rapide because it reminded me of when my father did the same with me at Duxford many years ago when i was nipper.

My thoughts are with his family…

Rest in peace Steve… you’re flying now.

Such a terrible shame… really wanted to see this rare bird in the flesh 🙁

Here is a video i found of it at a German airshow earlier this year, after a bit of googling. From this footage you can see she is a little ‘hot’ to handle on the ground.

Ouch! Good news that there are no injuries, poor DC-2 though! I wish her a speedy and inexpensive recovery! It’s funny, i was only thinking about her at the weekend, about how lovely she woul have looked on the flightline at Legends and to do a solo routine.
