Flybe breaks into Germany!
And about time too…SOU has very little in the way of services to Germany, and it is fitting that Flybe is finally taking the steps to offer them.
Does anyone know what aircraft they will operate on these routes, Dash 8, BAe 146 or 737?
If these new routes prove to be a success, I wonder whether Flybe will consider venturing into the Italian market at all, seeings as there is little in the way of services to there also?
What other destinations would be suitable from SOU?
Overall though, good news for Flybe and Southampton! 😀
Ok, not my original quote, but here is an attempt at another one…
Have got an interesting caption to share, but first I need to know if anoyone can tell what the object is that the guy on the left-hand side is holding?
I was thinking bout this thread last night, and have thought of quite a good name:

What do you think?

I agree that it is good news, but would it not make sense for them to move their ‘home’ base from LTN to LGW, now that LGW is their where there biggest operation happens?
Has the number of services from LTN or other airports decreased, to make way for this increase at LGW?
If it does go ahead, I bet the management of Air Wales are going to severley kick themselves for not being able to operate an efficient service…as they would have been able to of offered the half-hour service to Cardiff…
Tbh though, I doubt it will become a substaintially important airport, because it is in an ‘out-of-the-way’ area, and the sphere of influence around it will probably make people prefer to fly direct from Cardiff. On the plus side, a service to Cardiff in half an hour, that would usually take up to 4hrs by car has got to be an advantage for anyone who decides to operate the route? I bet the air-fare will be quite high for the privilage.
It stands out alright, but I think that looks awful!
I agree, in other words its horrible, disgusting, vile, and a huge waste of red paint…! 😀
Freevolution 😀 😀

Then the BBC breakfast news team had it all wrong. I was just going by what they said.
No Sandy, you didn’t get it wrong, and neither did BBC, but at one point there was a bit of confusion as to whether they had signed the agreement or not…
Most importantly though, did anyone see Michael O’Leary’s response?
He said that a new owner would be able to do wonders to the air transport indsutry within the UK, because he said that BAA have not designed the airports in a customer-friendly way (hinted at long walks from the dep lounge to gates!). He also said that its about time that the London airports were split down into individual companies, to allow greater competition and also to allow each airport to set its own charges, which if applied to STN would be able to lead to even lower fares to for its customers!
So, a takeover of ownership could have some advantages for the ‘price-sensitive’ fliers amongst us… 😀
I would have to agree with him, but for a different reason, lower fees and charges would lead to better competition between airlines as well as airports in general.
All we need now is for the EU-US ‘open-skies’ agreement to be ratified, and we will have a much better industry overall, imho.
Can you give us a bit more detail about the festival itself,
Where is it?
When is it?
Who is aimed at?
Who is playing at the festival?
I might be able to be a bit more creative than the current suggestions, with this information.

Yeah, many happy returns from me too.
Happy Birthday.
This thread just made me think of a headline I read back in late 90’s. Stelios Hadji-Iouannou came out and said that EZ jet was going to have a sizeable presence @ ATH Eleftherio Venizelou once it opened in ’01, even going so far as saying that they would have a mini-hub there. I don’t think that’s happened yet. Do they have any other gateways to ATH other than LTN?
Easyjet fly to Athens from London (Luton/Gatwick), Berlin and Milan.
Call me crazy, but I think that the more popular greek isles like CFU, RHO, HER, etc. could use scheduled service rather than mostly charter flights to some of the more popular European gateways to the Greek Isles, like Germany, Scandanavia, and the UK.
That was what I was thinking…lol.
Following a PM from a fellow member, I have decided not to continue this thread any further as it is appraently causing some upset amongst some members, so please consider this thread closed from me! I would like to apologise to all those that I may have upset.
