Eh, wasn’t there talk of it happening this weekend (29th April), I am like soooo  by all this now I have lost the plot…

I was also told that there was going to be special facilities in place for spotters and enthusiasts to come and get the best view…is this going ahead or not?

Can anyone confirm if this is the case or not, as I was planning a trip to LHR at weekend, but if it turns out its not coming, I wont go…lol. 😀

As per usual with BAA, the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. This poor organisation and changing of dates does nothing to help their reputation…

It does look to be interesting, and would agree with you on the aircraft choice. A Dash 8 Q400 would be the perfect choice for this kinda of short-haul, low-cost operation. Perhaps they should look at flybe as an example…

I do have to say that I love the look of the livery design, perfect for advertising the Hawaiian islands to surfers…

High Wycombe: 40 mins from London by train, I hear, and on the M40. I’m unfamiliar with whatever is on display at a working RAF Station: is there a Bomber Command HQ display of some sort that would be a side attraction?

I believe that High Wycombe is home to RAF Strike Command HQ, but not sure that it is an active air base – there are certainly no aircraft that come over us…but RAF Benson is not far away, near Oxford, so if you wanted you could get some pics of the Puma’s that operate out of there…

Ok, am thinking it is going to have to be day event as people are unlikely to want to have to fork out money for a hotel for the night, so we could probably hire the venue from 10am til 4pm, how’s that sound?

cloud 9, as its your idea, and you’ve nominated a venue with costs and facilities, why not hang out for that for starters and see what happens, provided you aren’t in a hurry? Do you want to suggest a date range?

Well the venue is closed during the summer months because it can only operate when the university is open, and also because of funding – or lack there of. However, I have been told that it can be made avaliable for sometime in June, so I need to get a date that is convievent to as many people as possible…

    How’s bout w/c 12th June?

Holty, time enough, I suggest, to move on decisively and with good faith and goodwill. If you mean the new forum, it is
    Planetalk .

Yeah, please try and keep posts relevant to the topic, otherwise this thread is going to die an ugly death, and nothing is going to get organised…

interesting idea, high wycombes bloody miles away from me though!!!

Well you could always fly to LHR and then get the underground/train to Wycombe, but some other people have already mentioned this as well…but it was only as a starting suggestion as I am currently living there and also the venue is very good value for what they charge!

If there is a severe objection to High Wycombe, maybe we could choose somewhere in the Midlands, so that it is easy for everyone to get to?

Anyone from that area know of good venues to hire?

I would just like to extend the praise that you have recieved so far for your work, they are exquisite and you should go into business by selling them and, as you have already mentioned, doing the odd commissioned piece…

Just out of interest, how long does it take you to do a painting…i.e A380 one?

If you are interested in taking your talent to the next level, please feel free to drop me a PM.

Once again, fantastic work and keep it up! 😀

    JMC 🙁

😮 OMG! I can’t believe you actually liked them…I thought they were bloody terrible. 😀 :diablo:

One airline that no-one has yet to mention, and has quite recently disappeared is…Britannia

I flew with them on numerous occasions, because the aircraft where always clean, and staff where always helpful and polite. And not only this, but that old livery was stunning…

And since they have been changed from Britannia to Thompsonfly, I know several people that have flown with them and notice a change for the worse…

    !BRING BACK BRITANNIA!

Depends on what time of year id say ? I would think during the height of the summer season more flights would go to PMI for example than JFK. But if we are talking schedule then i think JFK would be a safe bet.

Yeah, I was a bit vaige in my inital post, sorry, but I was thinking more about scheduled traffic than any other, but happy to consider it…

Well I can only do AMS really, as I have never been, and would love to go…so if you decide elsewhere, I will have to abstain I am afraid, but

As a side issue, I think we should look to organise a huge UK meeting at some point, as I am sure that there are members on here that would like to finally meet each other and put names to faces…but can’t afford the cost of air travel to European destinations (me included!) lol. Even if it was not at an airport, we could look to hire out a venue for an evening or something like that…? My student union allows private hire for about £400 a night, so if we managed to get say 150 people interested, it would work out at £3 per head, and another advantage is…cheap drinks (£2 a pint, usually, for those that are old enough of course!)
