A useless local fact for you.

If you look closely at the buildings in the background to the right of the hangars, the dark building is Astral Towers which locals will know today as the home of British Airways Holidays. When this was taken it was BCals recently opened new head office building. You can just make out their name on the roof.

    1L.

Indeed your right, you clearly have a good eye for detail…how clever :D!

    GREAT NEWS!

I think it is still early days, would certainly prove all those that doughted the potential of Manston wrong if they got other airlines to expand there!

Is it me, or did I read somewhere (can’t remember where now, doh!) that Ryanair was considering a MSE-DUB service? If so, what happened about it as I have not heard anything for ages.

I think Wozza does have a point here though, and he is only expressing his opinion and he is entitled to it, whether we agree or not!

Do bear in mind that LCY is not far from places like Silvertown and North Woolwich, where there are homes within approximately 100m of the runway, thus the operational hours have to be limited to minimise the impact on local residents. Only specific aircraft can be used by the various aircraft operators, as they have to demonstrate they are able to operate within these restricted limits.

I personally think that aircraft like the RJ100 or the Embraer’s are fine for what people require, and it is not as if they cannot easily get to another airport nearby such as STN, LTN or even LHR! 😀

I assume you had the zoon on maximum then when you took those shots? they are VERY blurry…

Indeed I did, because otherwise the pictures would of been a even worse than what they already are. The main reason I think is because the camera only has 4x digital zoom, so the images will are very ‘pixelated’ (sp?) and also I don’t have any manual functions on my camera, so I can’t change the shutter speed…

What sort of camera did you have then?

I had a small 4 million megapixel digital zoom camera. I have been promised by my Mum that I can have a new camera for my b’day – roll on July…hehe 😀

I was also down at LHR yesterday, as I was in town for the Sigor Ros gig at the Hammersmith Apollo in the evening, so I thought I would make a day of it – plane spotting/photography during the day, concert at night – what more can you ask for.

Please forgive me for the poor quality (nothing like the ones above!) as I do not yet have a half as decent a camera as most people…anyways, here they are. Any comments/feedback would be most appreciated, although they probably don’t deserve any:

Yeah, for those that may not know, AWAC stands for – airborne warning control system, and the aircraft is also known as the ‘Sentry’, and was in fact my favourite military aircraft, back in my Air Cadet days… 😀

Who to comment on? Me? Or the forum in general?

Sorry, I meant for the forum in general…

Ok, just some questions for you to comment on then…:

    1. Could Alpha One honestly be a success if it was relaunched properly?

    2. Does anyone know how much the company is actually worth?

    3. Would anyone be interested in a possible take-over bid? :diablo:

Would look better if they included the creamy/beige colour on the rear of the fusealuge (sp?)

On closer inspection of one of the pics, I can see that the creamy/beige colour is included… 😮 😮 😮 On this basis, I don’t really like it because the colours just don’t go together!

Its been a year since you know who launched you know what.

Why can’t you just face up to it and say Alpha One or Martin Halsted? 😡

On the points you raise, I think you are absolutley spot on, as I have now come to realise that both age and experience are the two most important factors that have an impact on being able to enter the airline industry. Sure you can get a job as a check-in agent or as cabin crew, but for those that have been to or are currently studying at university, such as myself, it is incredibily difficult to get a decent job because of the lack of experience.

It is even worse if you decide to take the plunge and try to make it on your own with your own business, and in the cases of Alpha One and Nexus, I feel very strongly that age and experience have both let them down, which is why I have finally come to my senses and given up hope of being able to set up an airline of my own, and am now considering options in other industries. I sure hoped that both would of been a success, as it is these kind of people that deserve credit for their ambitions. I do not want to rubbish anyone else that has got ambitions of being able to achieve big in the airline industry, far from it. If you think you can make it, all I will say is “Go for it, but be careful cos its a dog-eat-dog world out there!”

Apart from the colours of the Greek flag, i don’t think it captures any of the Mediterranean feel, colour, or spirit. shame 🙁

Totally agree, would of been better in yellow or orange I think to make it look and feel warmer…hehe 😀

Wonder if Bmused55 can do something using his templates that he does so well…? :diablo:

Damn. I am on the last leg of my holiday in Canada on those dates, if only I had not booked those 2 extra days in Seattle 🙁 !

I am sure there will be plenty of other opportunities so maybe next time, hope you have a good time though… 😀
