Am pretty sure they are due to be converted into freighters for DHL, but I stand to be corrected.

Another possible suggestion was that VS might look to buy BD in order to gain access to their slots, but also to provide onward connecting services to domestic and European cities for those people who fly into LHR on a VS flight. Plus, this would also allow for VS to join Star Alliance, which is/was one of the options mentioned when SRB talked about what the future was for VS.:)

Good on Blue Islands, but no mention of what a/c will be used on the route…I assume it’ll be an ATR 42?

I am pretty sure I remember reading something about this in a previous edition of Airliner World magazine, but I can’t remember which exact one…but there was a photo.;)

But why is that a mistake?

If it was current when painted it would have been a mistake to leave it off.

That’s a good point Garry, but I just thought it was a bit premature of them to paint the logo on there…and now that it is clear that they will not be becoming a member of the Star Alliance for sometime, I can’t imagine that Star Alliance themselves would be too happy for AI to be still showing the logo off?

In my eyes, you can’t advertise that you are a member of something or soon to be a member of something, until it has actually happened, or am I wrong to think this…?

Anyone know when AI are suppose to recieve their first 787?

    Star Alliance logo?

Well done to EGTC…if you look closely, you’ll notice that the Star Alliance logo has been put on this aircraft, however, Air India’s integration into the alliance has recently been suspended because they failed to meet the minimum membership conditions that they had agreed to back in December 2007.:)

    The MOL method…that involves handing over £5, doesn’t it?:D:diablo:

In all seriousness though, this newer method would be particuarily useful when trying to board a single aisle aircraft (i.e. B757) when on a transatlantic flight (CO use them to/from LHR!)…and it is always a chaotic process because passengers always block the aisle so that they can put their hand luggage, coats and everything else that they bring with them in the overhead lockers, depsite the crews best efforts to ask them to move into the row where they are seated so that others can pass by and find their seats!

If it could be proved somehow that this plane and others were damaged/destroyed as a result of foreign bombs, could/would the airline/s try to seek compensation in anyway because it is/was not their fault, and the foreign bombs were only suppose to be used against Gaddafi’s military assests?

Thanks for sharing these pics with us Keith, all are great and its always nice to see something a bit different…

Do you mind telling me where exactly in Miami this place is, I happen to be visiting in October and may look to pay a visit myself if I can (need to convince the girlfriend first though…lol!).:D

FlyBe really are becoming a bit of a monster airline…first with the take-over of BA Connect/CitiExpress, they’ve been instrumental in the demise of Air Southwest and now they are getting their claws stuck into Suckling Airways…

How long will it be before they try to get hold of someone like Eastern?:(

It is such a shame to see another British carrier go to the wall.

I suppose Sutton Harbour are the real people to blame seeing as they forced the withdrawl of the routes from Plymouth by closing down and selling off the airport.

That said though…surely an airline such as Eastern Airways could have made at least some of the routes work, even if they put on some of their smaller aircraft (JS41?) and used the Dash 8 Q300’s from Air Southwest on some of their other routes?

    Where’s Cloud 9 gone??…………..

I am still here…was just waiting for a multitude of answers before I replied.

Thanks for all your suggestions, really has been a help, and a few have certainly made me chuckle…:D

Only problem I have is if I fly on the Sunday, I miss the Saturday stay option which a lot of airlines put as a condition which would enable me to get a cheaper fare.

For somewhere like Florida, I am looking at £600+ alone for a return airfare and thats just for one of us…

Someone earlier mentioned what my budget was…I would like to try to keep it within £1,000, to include flights and accomodation…

Told you it would be a challenge…;)
