…don’t see any value in suing them

There is no value in suing them if you’ve only paid an extremely low-fare because, as Bmused55 suggested earlier, the cost of taking them to court to get your money back far outweighs the cost of the original ticket in the first place…and boy don’t Ryanair (and others!) know about it and use this to their advantage.

…and has still to receive a reply to his complaint.

Didn’t you know, it costs an extra £100 just to receive a reply, plus the £15 charge for the piece of paper used to the write the letter on, £10 for the envelope and stamp that they send the letter in and then the £5 charge for the time it takes them to walk to the post box to actually send it…and all for a reply that will probably say “You’re not getting a refund, ~$#@ Off!” on it.:D:diablo:

I don’t wish sound rude Sandy, but is the trip really necessary…as in work related, or a serious emergency perhaps?!

I know times are tight mate, but if I had a choice of either flying with Ryanair or simply not going, I probably would choose not to go!

Another absolute belter of a post there Mr Noel…well done!:)

Picture I like the most is the first WOW shot, which leads me to a quick question…has Air Southwest named G-WOWE after someone or something, as there is some writing just to the left of the door, but I can’t make out what it says…?

Cessation of such subsidies is normaly the reason FR pack up and leave without a moments notice.

Also confirmed today, Ryanair announced that they are to pull x5 aircraft from its base in “Barcelona” (oh, wait its…Girona!:diablo:) because the new regional government has chosen not to honour an agreement signed between the airline and the previous government. This move will result in the loss of 18 routes, and a reduction in services to a further 17 destinations. See below for a full list:

…we can’t risk something going wrong.

I am slightly baffled as to what could possibly “go wrong”, when compared to travelling to another carrier, that stops you from travelling on a low-cost airline to get one of your concerts…?

A flight with any normal airline (non low-cost!) could get delayed/cancelled and might loose your baggage just as much as any other airline might.

I suspect it could it be due to the fact that despite it being cheaper (as advertised!) it would in fact work out more expensive in the long-term because the low-cost airlines would clobber you very heavily with their excess baggage charges for all your musical instruments and equipment, because they only charged you £9.99 or some other ridiculously “low-fare” and a pitiful baggage allowance, so much so that they have to make their money by other means…or, in the situation of a cancelation/delay, you are more likely to get help from the airline if flying with a more respectable carrier rather than an a low-cost carrier, which could mean that you still arrive at your intended destination, rather than being stuck at your point of origin?

Which proves the point that the reason you travel with low-cost carriers is purely down to a reason of convenience…

I bet that Jet2.com are kicking themselves now that President Mubarak has stepped down, because a large amount of the violence and tension in Egypt will no doubt disappear, and things will slowly begin to return to some sort of normality now that the military is in control.

Seeing as they have already announced that they have suspended their Egypt programme from March 1st, will Jet2.com now look to re-instate it or not, as I suspect that it may well annoy all those customers who had previously booked to go to Egypt and have been told that they are not able to go, and then perhaps be told that they might well be able to go…?

This will hopefully be another thorn in the side to Ryanair and others…

Which? slams airlines for excessive card fees

…budget airlines are the worst offenders as they charge a fee per passenger, per leg even though they have to process only one payment.

“There is simply no justification for excessive card charges. Paying by card should cost the consumer the same amount that it costs the retailer,” said Which? chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith.

“Companies should not be using card processing costs as an excuse for boosting their profits.

“Low-cost airlines are some of the worst offenders when it comes to excessive card surcharges but this murky practice is becoming ever-more widespread, from cinemas to hotels and even some local authorities.”

The main runway at Cork is to remain closed until 1600hrs today as a result of the crash, and whilst investigators continue to try and work out the cause of the incident.

Of course, there are some delays and cancellations to services, so people travelling to/from ORK are advised to contact their airline for further details.

Aer Lingus has cancelled flights to Heathrow, Amsterdam and Malaga. Passengers on other flights, including services to Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow, must make their own way to Shannon Airport.

Ryanair passengers due to fly to Stansted, Dublin, Liverpool and Gatwick should check in at Cork Airport from where they will be transferred by bus to Shannon.

Seems mighty strange that Aer Lingus is telling its passengers to get to Shannon Airport by themselves (and presumably at their own cost!), and yet Ryanair are offering transport, would have thought it would have been the other way round?

(Perhaps they [Ryanair] could charge any Aer Lingus pax for a ticket on the bus!:diablo:)

Statement from Noel Hayes, Chairman of Manx2.com

Awful. Condolences to the families and friends of those people that have been killed.

Noel Hayes, Chairman of Manx2.com, has issued the following statement:

“This has been a terrible day and our thoughts are, first and foremost, with the families of those who lost their lives, and those who were injured.

“We need to establish what happened this morning, and we will continue to work with the authorities throughout their investigation.

“Members from my team have been in Cork to liaise with the relevant authorities.

“Manx2.com has never experienced anything like this in our five year history and the tragedy has been a terrible shock to us all.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives, and we hope that the people who were injured make a full recovery.

“I also want to pay tribute to the emergency services in Cork, who were extremely quick and professional in their response. In addition we are very grateful for the support provided by Cork Airport & Belfast City Airport. We will continue to do everything we can to help those affected in any way by this tragedy.”

Ah, the first VS aircraft that will fly long-haul on just two engines!

I’m sure its probably been said before, but isnt it ironic that VS used to say “4 engines 4 long-haul” on the side of some of their aircraft, and yet now they have ordered and are going to be flying just 2 engines on some.

And, I still prefer the old scheme to this latest one…the font that is used on the “virgin atlantic” wording at the front is just awful (far too big, not bold/”Virgin” enough), and the white c/s on the main fuselage makes it look just a lot cheaper than it used to.

That said though, could this be Virgin’s strategy in terms of ways of saving money and adapting to the market conditions by choosing to use smaller aircraft and not applying as much paint or trying to make as much of a statement as they used to; compared to BA’s current strategy which appears to take it out on their staff first and foremost, usually by attacking their pay-packets or working conditions.

Bad for the industry? Probably. Good for my wallet? Certainly!

This is a prime example of the “wrong” attitude to take, and completely justifies Skymonster’s point that people probably don’t actually like flying with them, instead they simply tollerate it only to get the cheap fares!

And it also proves that it is a matter of convience that you should choose to travel with Ryanair, because if these so-called “cheap” fares were not available, you would not be able to continue to travel as much as you currently do…?

The spite and bile you spew at Ryanair is quite comical.

Nope, I shall reply no more…someone with such bitter and blinkered views…

Bloodnok, its his opinion…why is expressing that such a “bitter and blinkered” view?

I think its good that Skymonster is able to express his opinion/s, but more so that he then chooses to back these views up with a coherant and detailed explaination, unlike yourself and a few others on here who simply seem to pour scorn over anything that is contary to what you say, and yet you are not prepared to back-up what you say with an equal or as rational argument other than “I choose to fly with Ryanair ‘because its cheap’.” Ok, so its not exactly a bitter view, granted, but surely that is rather “blinkered” as you said so yourself?
