Selling to T3 was the right choice, and not surprising to be honest especially seeing as they signed an alliance between them on 25th Feb 2010 which enables SZ to sell tickets via external sources like travel agents, rather than focusing solely on the Internet, thus increasing their market presence (according to Wikipedia?!), and its nice to see that T3 have chosen to keep the SZ brand.
Have to say though Rob, the Eastern Airways livery would look pretty damn good on a Dash8 Q300 too, don’t you agree?!
A less well-known spacecraft for a lot of people, unless you happen to have seen the hit TV-show “Firefly”, created by Joss Whedon of “Buffy” and “Angel” fame, and its spin-off film “Serenity” (2005), which is also the name of the craft itself!

Airport expansion approved, no government intervention! 🙂
Bet the NIMBY’s/eco-mentalists aren’t going to be happy with this…!
Personally for me, BRS deserves to be expanded as there should be more of an emphasis on making use of regional airports, rather than trying to expand an already over-crowded airport such as LHR.
Oh, the only condition I would put on this expansion though is that EZY wouldnt be allowed to expand services…don’t think I could handle another one of Bristol_Rob’s all “orange” photo threads…!:D:diablo: (Sorry Rob, only joking mate!;))
Just to answer my own question, and to provide the answer for anyone else that may want to know, the reason the aircraft was being towed-in on stand is because some gates at airports like JFK/EWR/LAX are smaller and closer together than over here in the UK, so to avoid wing-tip damage aircraft are towed-in rather than just pulling up on their own power!
Interestingly enough, the damage sustained to the aircraft was minimal, so much so that it was back in service 6hrs later.;)

I am rather baffled as to why they are having to attach the tow-tractor to the aircraft in the first place?!
If my understanding is correct, the aircraft is coming onto the stand…so surely it would do this on its own power and use the guidence system associated to the gate which tells how much further the aircraft is allowed to go?
If the particular stand in use doesn’t have said guidence system, then usually it would get marshalled in, not towed-in, right?
Lovely shots there Darren, I was at LHR earlier today to see the EK A380 there. Will post up my shots (albeit not as good as yours!) tomorrow.:)
Oooo…SATA’s new livery looks amazing – I love it!:)
Great pics, thanks for sharing.
Newforest, those flights you suggest are not direct…if you look very closely towards the bottom of each suggested option, it says ‘1-stop’ as they require a flight via AMS!;)
I’ve done a search and it says that direct flights are not possible!
How does WW intend on going “shopping” for other airlines when the princple airline is making huge losses, and what is IB’s financial situation like?
What is he saying to these mystery airlines in order to convince them that joining IAG or being bought out/merged is a good thing?
Don’t get me wrong, I am all in favour for consolidation if/where necessary, but with a guy like WW at the helm, I can only forsee danger/problems in the future.
Anyone know when they are likely to start using the 717 on the LHR-HEL route at all?
The very ambitious Takeoff!
Fantastic, I actually burst out laughing when I first saw this one!:D
The aircraft in question is operating for Syrian Arab Airlines.
I do have some pictures of it as I saw it the other week and was surprised to see it still in ex-Silverjet livery. I’ll try and get them off my phone and onto this thread if i can.
