Indeed Cking…the jetbridge floor! And as it was a delayed flight and the stand which the aircraft gets allocated is based on whatever is available at the time of the late arrival, there’s no telling how many people had traipsed up and/or down it, or how many dirty/leaky bags of rubbish that the cleaners had dragged over it before the person in question decided to kiss it?!

I do wonder though whether they did actually kiss it full-on or whether they just bowed their head as close as they dared to go, but from where I was standing (directly opposite!), it certainly seemed like they planted their lips on the surface!

Personally, I thought it was a somewhat bizarre thing to of done there and then, regardless of the fact it caused the minor blockage, but thats why I thought I’d ask on here to see if anyone else might know of a reason why she may have done it, but like I said in my initial post I hope no-one takes offense to this if it is/was something that they do/did for religious purposes.

Kissing the floor is NOT an Islamic practice…

You are right, just confirmed from a colleague. Apologies for the mistake. Kneeling down is, not kissing the floor.

    Thanks Buran/Kabir for confirming that.:)

I’ve never seen an Airbus A300-600ST for myself, but just like Arnie says in the first ever Predator movie, its “one ugly mother*******er!”.

    Great video, thanks for sharing.:)

For anyone that has visited the Boeing factory in Seattle, you get to sit and watch a similar video on a big screen, but I can’t remember what aircraft it is that is shown in production?

We all know what the medias definition of “runway” is. 🙂

Indeed; the media would probably classify the M25 as a runway at LHR!:D

Interesting…is this an Austria specific rule?

I don’t think its Austria specific Kabir, as far as I am aware its relevant all over the world.

You do not “officially” enter a country until you have passed through immigration and customs…same thing applies for all those people that transit through a country when connecting onto a flight…you get off one plane, go through security and board your next plane, but you do not officially enter the country because you do not pass through immigration and customs.

There are exceptions to this rule, say for example if you have booked a separate ticket with two different airlines and you have to collect your baggage and check-in again with the other airline you will then have to “officially” land yourself by passing through immigration and customs in order to get to the other airlines check-in counters.

If you head anywhere via USA you are forced to enter the country “officially”, whether you like it or not, because they no longer offer a TWOV option.

What on earth is that sand-like substance that is all over the exterior of the aircraft, or is it just the quality of the photo taken at night?

Glad things ended safely though as another tragic accident for Air France so soon after the other one would have been disastrous, even more so as it would have occurred on exactly the same route!

Why couldn’t you just answer a new members query without all the smart a** comments??

I don’t think there was anything smart a***d about it, just a bit of light humour, nothing wrong with that now, is there?

    Airwolf

    LMAO! That made me chuckle:D

It could possibly be the Premiair helicopter that offers the shuttle service to London Heliport for private jet users that land at LTN?

EDIT: Infact, it can’t be the Premiair helicopter…as they operate a Sikorsky S76, sorry, my bad!

Apparantly BA are frequent charterers of the Titan 146’s for use from LCY when they require extra capacity.

Well that is who I instinctively thought that it might be operating for Newforest, seeing as they used Titan’s aircraft during both strike periods, but I was just curious to know this time round thats all.

Finally one for the operators of the MAN AVP….. take note… ya thieving gypsies!:dev2:

To be fair Tartan, I don’t think those prices are too bad actually…£2.50 for up to 6hrs is far cheaper than what the multi-storey at the terminals would have charged, and they are obviously going to offer cheap prices to encourage people to stay longer throughout the day (and who wouldn’t with the current weather we have?!). Obviously if you are only going for an hour or less then £1 does seem a bit of a rip-off!

Sorry, forgot to say, nice pics by the way.;)

I was working on this day, strangely I was dealing with a delayed flight (the CO one in the video on the BBC!). It caused quite a stir in the departure lounge as we saw alot of passengers looking out of the windows, some with mobile phones up taking pictures…so when I went over to see what was happening I saw the plume of smoke for myself.

Funny thing was when someone asked…”Is it volcanic ash?” (no joke, someone actually asked me this?!:D)

The fire service were onto it very promptly and it was extinguished very quickly, however, the perimeter road had to be closed for quite some time in order for an investigation to take place, which caused further delay to the flight I was dealing with because we were awaiting a part for the aircraft that had to be transported from LGW, and the vehicle carrying the part got stuck on the perimeter road!

Latest news I have heard though is that the fire caused extensive damage to the Servisair cargo building and what remains may even have to be taken down because it is now deemed unsafe and unrepairable!

The issue of “standing-up” seating has been bashed around for years and nothing has ever come of it yet, so I am not holding my breath that anything will happen anytime soon.

I have to agree with Wozza, just another cynical publicity stunt!:)

Quite simple really, I think turboprops are great aircraft, particularly the Q400, would be nice to see a few more of them around at LCY!:)
