Nowt wrong with that…the only thing I would say is that it would have been a bit better if the ‘virgin atlantic’ lettering had been placed slightly lower down as it looks a bit too high-up and therefore doesn’t particularly complement the shape of the 744 that well, but overall I actually quite like it.:)
You know the rule…K.I.S.S; Keep It Simple, Stupid.
Personally, I quite enjoy watching the videos that are posted (as long as they are recently produced and not from ages ago!) as it makes for a bit of a change to looking at photos all the time.
That said, I do think a dedicated thread for videos should perhaos be made, it is after all another way of showing off people’s work for a hobby/interest that they have and wish to share with other fellow forum members.:)
The CRJ family cannot use LCY, nor can the ERJ145 (though the E135 can).
Although the concrete length is 1508m, the useable runway from a TORA and LDA position is only 1319m, so the actual runway length you need to consider is that.
The CRJ family has relatively poor runway performance, and there is litttle in the way of weight that can be removed in terms of fuel/load. Therefore Bombardier has never sought approval for the type at LCY as the offload of fuel/pax would be too significant.
Hope that’s some help? LCY operations and capabilities is an area of particular knowledge of mine.
I should add also that Bombardier have specifically designed their C-series on the basis that it will be LCY operable, even if it is only the C100.
Many thanks for the info rdc1000.:)
Basically, I’m playing Airline Manager on Facebook, and have an airline established out of LCY called LDN Airlines (any users that want to invest, please do so!), and I wanted to try to make it as real as possible.
I already operate x2 Q300’s and x5 Q400’s on a variety of domestic and international routes, and I know that both of these aircraft are already LCY approved. I was hoping to introduce Bombardier jets at some point to expand further into the European market, and thought about the CRJ series, but maybe I’ll look to wait a bit longer for them to introduce the C-Series onto the game. Either that or I’ll have to look to use Embraer E170’s & E190’s if I can’t wait that long!
What’s that thing that looks like an elephant’s trunk ?
Makes The Angel of The North look quite interesting now!:D:diablo:
Nice shots heslop, what appealing features, if any, does Newcastle have for anyone that has never visited before but might consider a day trip!?

I’ve got my eye on an organised holiday across America, including some train trips to amuse Grumpy.
The big attraction for me is that it finishes in San Francisco,so I could get to see the Short Solent at Oakland. Has anyone on here seen it ?
Anna, does your organised trip across America that you have your eye on run the opposite way at all, as in starting in San Fran and ending wherever (you didn’t mention where it stated in your post!?)…
The reason I ask is because I have a suggestion…why not fly to Calgary, take “Grumpy” on the Rocky Mountaineer from Calgary to Vancouver, then fly, drive or indeed take the train down to San Fran (not sure whether it stops at Oakland?), and then you can pick up the organised trip you speak of after spending a few days enjoying San Fran itself?
Just a suggestion, but that would be one hell of a trip and a great way to celebrate 40yrs of marriage!:)

Two holidays really stick out for me…
Both were cruises, but the first one I went on was from Seattle to Alaska having spent a week prior to that touring Canada (Calgary to Vancouver, inc. Rocky Mountaineer train from Jasper to Vancouver, which was simply stunning!). Whilst on the cruise we went on a small floatplane to small island and saw bears catching salmon in the rivers, and we also went sledging with Alaskan huskies on the top of a glacier.
Next up, we went to Hawaii, spending the first week on a cruise going around all the islands doing various activities such as scuba diving & snorkelling. And then we had a relaxing week in a hotel on Waikikki Beach, during which I also took a trip to Pearl Harbour.
Personally, I felt that Hawaii was the better trip, but either way both were unforgettable holidays and ones I will look back on with fond memories.
I am looking to go away in October…might look at either Dubai, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur if I can afford it (recommendations as to which one, anyone?), but sometime in the future I do have hopes that I can one day visit Australia/New Zealand, but thing with a trip like that is that I would need to take a month or two off work in order to take it all in properly.

Great selection of pics there Rob, nice catch with the C-17!:)
Strange to see the FCA 767 still knocking around in its now defunct FCA livery…FCA & TOM have been together for quite some time now so I would have thought they would have gotten round to re-painting all their aircraft into Thomson Airways branding?
Another quick question, also FCA 767 related, but did G-OOBK have blended winglets at all; I know that they’ve started retrofitting them onto some of their aircraft, just not sure if/when they will all have them!
And lastly…just because BRS is soon to loose a 757 soon, there is no excuse for missing the daily CO rotation outta BHX…where you too late to see it this time round?! I best have a pic of one when you go to EDI or there’ll be trouble!:D:diablo:
Nice pictures. Any shot of a C17 at BHX (or over my house on approach) is a source of sadness as they are generally bringing wounded from Afghanistan to the Defence Medical Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
kev35, I thought that all military flights carrying fallen/injured personnel went through Brize Norton, obviously not in this case?
I know nothing about guitars myself Pete, and I don’t really appreciate music as much as I really should (I just listen to it but never really in-depth and decide whether I like the sound/s or not!), but what I will say based on that video is that your son is very talented for a 13 year old! I wish him the best of luck in paving a career for himself as a budding musician, assuming that is what he wants to do in life, or is playing the guitar just a hobby for him?!:)

Seeing as your post above says the aircraft are operated by the air force, I would suggest Military Aviation would be the best place for this to go; sadly I don’t have the access/power to move it for you, so you’ll need to wait for one of the MODs to do it for you!;)
