Nutters!:D
I just hope the flights are better than the service on the ground.
Don’t expect too much…

According to the rules, if the airline notifies passengers that the route will no longer operate (known as a schedule/route change!) more than 7 weeks in advance of the departure date of the flight, then they can offer to get you to your destination using their own services as best as they possibly can (in this case, they offered you a flight from LHR!) or a refund because they would much rather give you the money back rather than re-routing you on another airline as its less hassle for them in terms of administration/paperwork. This of course works in your favour too as you then have more of a choice as to who you can fly with.
As for the return journey, I would assume that the same would apply, however, as you say the flights are full. The only thing I think they can do is to re-route you using another airline (maybe you could ask them to put you on United as they are Star Alliance members too!) or give you a refund. Like I said before, they are likely to offer a refund rather than re-route you for the same reason mentioned above.
If they are not prepared to re-route or offer you a refund, then why not ask them to go on stand-by, as there is always a chance that someone might not turn up for the flight that you are originally booked on. Either that or you can ask them to accomodate you in a hotel for whenever they can get you on the next available flight, however, your only solution to this problem would be to pay for it yourself, keep all your reciepts for any reasonable costs that you had to pay out for and then write a letter to their customer services department and enclose all the receipts that you want them to pay.
Release your aggression by having 2 manga fighters beat each other.

These things do happen. I lost my windscreen on my last car due to an aircraft approaching Heathrow. They go directly over our works car park every couple of minutes.
I work at Heathrow too and park in a car park where the aircraft pass extremely close (literally seconds before touchdown!). Have often wondered how much carnage would be caused if an aircraft didnt quite make it to the runway.
…just claimed it on the insurance.
Would an insurance company pay-out if my car was wrecked if an accident such as above happened, and/or would the airline be responsible for compensation?
I suppose the chances of it actually happening are minimal, but it very nearly did happen when that BA 777 crashed last year.
Ouch!
For anyone that may have been thinking (like me for example!:o) that there is no evidence of the bruising he sustained…just watch the video in the link!
I will be honest and admit that I did think it was a bit of a hoax at first, but now I am not so sure…!
….Iknow that he madeoff with loads of money, lost it etc…..How is that person ‘better’ than Madeoff?
Was this an intentional joke or just a spelling blooper…either way it had me in stitches of laughter!:D
Madoff…madeoff! (I’ll get my coat!:o)
Guy deserves all he gets to be honest.
Good job he isnt over here in the UK as he’d be let out after serving just 10 years for good behavior.

Wow, I just watched all three videos…at first I thought it was a fairly silly thing to want to do, but actually when you think about it, its a very unique way of getting people’s attention.:D
Must say though I am rather surprised by the willingness of the people who volunteered for this…what benefits did they recieve for doing this?
Not sure if the same kind of strategy would work anywhere else in the world…definatley not over here in the UK!
Hi Sarah,
If I were in your shoes, I would personally choose First Choice/Thomson over Monarch. There are several reasons for this decision:
According to SeatGuru.com and based on the assumption that Monarch operates its Airbus A330 aircraft on its flights to Mexico, it only offers a fairly cramped 28-29in seat pitch in economy; whereas First Choice/Thomson offer 33in (rumoured to be more legroom in economy than BA, Virgin Atlantic, bmi!)
Also, Monarch do not have seat-back TVs if travelling in Economy; they’re only available if travelling in Premium.
The only downside I see to travelling with First Choice/Thomson is the seating config of the aircraft…which will be 2+3+2 as you’ll be travelling on one of their Boeing 767s, compared to the 3+3+3 on Monarch’s A330’s.
I know from having worked at Gatwick in the past that its always best to get your seats assigned in advance (there is an additional fee for this, but not sure how much!). This however does not avoid the possibility of being sat one-behind each other, which I know a lot of people complained about in the past! I suppose it depends on how many people you are travelling with and whether you mind be sat one-behind each other on a long-haul flight?
Anyways, these are just my thoughts, but I hope it helps.;)
Very nice shots, thanks for sharing.:)
Is it me, or do others feel it would be a nicer livery if they had something on the engine panel (as in the bit behind the prop, sorry don’t know its technical term, is it still referred to as the cowling?!)…a website address or something, rather than just all white, as it does look a bit bland, especially in the first image.
Also (sorry, forgot to mention this in my previous post!), but I also flew with CO from EWR to SFO whilst on the same trip as above, and in terms of the meal, we got a cheeseburger, salad and some chocolate covered biscuits…hardly a ‘nutritious’ meal for a 6hr flight?!
I think the only reason CO stand out against all the rest of the US carriers is due to the fact that they do not charge people for food onboard, whereas most other carriers do…tea, coffee, soft drinks and water are also free too, but they do charge $5 for alcohol.
