Lovely shots there Mike, they’re all great, however my firm favourite is the Aurigny ATR…I really must fly on one if I love it that much!:D
Is it different in Scotland perhaps??
Garry
Quite possibly Garry, some programs are not shown in different regions…sorry!
Having said that, you could try to see if its available on BBC iPlayer after it has been shown and watch it on there, just a suggestion?
Nothing irks me more than when somebody gets a free upgrade to Business class from the back end when i’ve paid a premium for the business service
I know what you mean but as long as airlines overbook (which they always will do) then I guess it will happen. Ahh well!
Paul
Indeed, in the event that economy is overbooked, airlines have no option but to provide passengers with complimentary upgrades to higher classes, as otherwise they would be liable to pay denied boarding compensation, which in some cases can be more than the actual price of the ticket that the passenger originally paid.
That said, most airlines have a set process of who they offer upgrades to, and it usually goes to the customers that have paid the highest fare (as in fully flexible Y-class!) first, and then they will offer upgrades to those customers that are the highest members within the airlines frequent flyer program.
The interesting thing is when airlines offer upgrades to passengers at a specially discounted rate on the day of departure…I don’t understand why they do this as they risk annoying those passengers that have paid a premium price for the same class of service (as Steve suggests), and they also risk de-valuing the quality of the service onboard!
These are just some of the gripes from the airport as well…
1. Asking for a free upgrade when they have bought the cheapest possible ticket and/or coming up with the most unrealistic reason/s as to why they should get one.
2. Families with small children and/or large groups that turn up at the last minute before check-in is due to close expecting to be able to sit together and/or get a choice of seats.
3. Forgetting to order a special meal and expecting one to be put onboard.
Am sure I could think of others…feel free to add to them if you can.;)
Its just amazing how journalists talk things up – or down…
In any case, we have to recognise that its in SRB’s interest to talk down US airlines, just like Scumbag O’Riley talks down European airlines – SRB stands to benefit from anyone he manages to scare away from US airlines and onto his own branded Virgin Atlantic and Virgin America.
Andy
I actually agree with you Andy.
There was a potential rumor that went around that it may have been Virgin America that was going to go under. Ok, so they are not considered a ‘major’ carrier carrier, but by SRB saying what he said it has helped to deflect some of the attention away from the state of ‘his’ airline (even though he only owns 25% of it!).
Best not be Continental
I don’t think it will be Continental seeing as they will have the anti-trust immunity agreement with United and are joining Star Alliance in October.
My guess would probably be US Airways…
…I’ve just booked with them 😮
Are you flying from LHR on Continental?
If so, PM me as I work for the company that handles them, can get you (and whoever you are travelling with, if anyone!) some decent seats!
Hardly surprising to be honest as it was her husbands antics that really started this whole ‘MPs expanses’ scandal off, wasn’t it?

Another thing I noticed…that 747 climb looks pretty steep!
This particular aircraft came up very low indeed, so I suspect it had a rather late rotation off the runway and therefore it was pointing at a higher angle than the other aircraft…also, I think it had just begun to turn, hence why you can see the winglet of the left-hand wing…but, anyways, in general you’ll be surprised by the angle that some of the aircraft pull when making their first turn!
Thanks for the comments, always nice to get some positive feedback!:)
I can remember quite an interesting landing at Palma-de-Mallorca airport aboard what was at the time a Britannia Airways flight. We were on finals and I was looking out of the window and saw the airport’s perimeter fence come into view, and then the tarmac of the runway, but we were still really high up and didnt actually touchdown for what seem like ages. Then, all of a sudden there was this huge drop and a massive ‘THUD’ as the Captain literally planted the aircraft on the runway!
Another quite interesting landing was earlier this year when travelling on Porter Airlines…coming into land at Toronto City Centre Airport (YTZ) is quite special because its on an island, so you have water at both ends of the runway. I was looking out of the window and remember saying in my head “Water, water, water…still water, ok, now we’re getting dangerously low, still water…!”, then breathed a sigh of relief as the runway suddenly came into view at the last minute. We then had to brake and turn left incredibly hard to avoid going off the end of the runway and into the water.
In reality though, I think we all tend to think the runway is shorter than it actually is when we are onboard an aircraft, anyone else agree?
Many happy returns, even though I don’t know you…:D
I have always questioned the decision to give that museum a concorde.
Touche!
I also think G-BOAB, located at Heathrow, should be re-located too as BA appear to have moved it out of public view…question is though, where would be suitable to store it?
Nice shots. I think I’d be a bit too embarrassed to stand outside a Tesco shop and start taking pictures of planes!
Why???
Well I must be honest and say I did get a few strange looks from passers-by going into the supermarket to do their shopping; it was not until an aircraft came overhead and I then lifted up my camera to take a picture that I think they knew what I was doing…
I did have one guy lean out of his car window and shout “Get a life!”…to which I just smiled!:D
Excellent shots there indeed sir.
Only editing critique i dare offer is maybe let them “breathe” a little by not cropping so tight (My opinion only,of course!)
Thanks for the comment Tartan.
I accept your critique, however, I do think its down to personal preference, but of course your entitled to raise your opinion (it is a free world after all, or is it?…:D).
Thanks anyway.
Here’s some others!
Ok, so rather than creating another thread, I’d thought I would add some more photos onto this one.
Hope you like these too.

Comments welcome, again also these are my first attempt at editing for myself.:)
