Is it me, or is this “XXX Airline takes delivery of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, A380” malarky getting boring?
It’s all very well, but there is nothing new here?
I actually find it quite informative.:)
What no pictures??
Somtimes pictures are not always essential Steve.
In the case of a simple day-trip return on Ryanair, I think just a worded report does itself justice.
Nice report astraeus471; hope you enjoyed Dublin city centre. I’ve been twice and loved it both times!:)
Aren’t they both childrens shows??
No Steve, Family Guy especially was not made for children…although I can see why you may of thought that (could it be the fact that both are cartoons/animation?). Trust me, it would be totally different if was, just watch an episode or two and I’m sure you’ll understand why!:D

Well I have not achieved a huge amount this year to be honest. I got a new job in February which I am really liking and hoping I continue to do well in. Also, I finally managed to cut the chord and move out of my parents home back in May and have settled in well where I am living at the moment and hope that this continues, and I bought a ‘new’ car (well its actually second-hand, but new to me as a replacement to the rust-bucket that I previously drove/owned!).
As for 2009, I dont really have anything special planned that I would like to achieve as such…so maybe visit a few places in the world, but besides that, just surviving whatever each day throws at me would be a great accomplishment.:)
I’m wondering how anyone can watch stuff like that and knock progs like XFactor?
Be careful Joglo as I feel you might in danger of suffering a backlash of criticism like you have on another thread…;)
You can’t possibly compare something like Family Guy/The Simpsons to something like The X-Factor as they are two completely different types of TV shows aimed at a completely different audience/market/viewer (delete as appropriate)?
To answer the main question though, I think duxfordhawk sums it up nicely, as I too like the Simpsons but over-time think it has become a bit stale. As for Family Guy. I do find it very funny, you’ve gotta love Stewie Griffin, just brilliant!

You’re confusing a contradiction with an opinion…although I wouldn’t go quite so far as to say “utter dirge”.:)
Fair point. I think it was the last bit of his comment that made me think he was contradicting himself, but like you said, each to their own.:)

Another sweety with a great voice has arrived, Alexandra Burke, who will no doubt be put down by forum members here as another product of that crappy tv programme.
But do I care?:p
Anyone who watched last night’s XFactor must have been stirred, not shaken, by her duet with Beyoncé.

Totally agree with you there Joglo, she deserved to win it, and I wouldn’t say I was ‘stirred’ by her performance with Beyoncé, more like ‘blown away’ by how good it was – loved it!:)
It’s almost certain to top the charts for Christmas 2008.
Whilst your right to highlight this point, and I think this time round it deserves to be at #1 as the song itself is a great song, however, it does somewhat annoy me that the final of such a TV programme as The X-Factor is scheduled to finish just in time for the Christmas #1…makes me think if other big-name artists are actually that bothered nowadays about releasing a song during this period, knowing full well that they probably wont stand a chance of getting to the #1 spot?
I only have one thing to say about your comment ref live band vs backing track and that is, a well rehearsed live band is no different from a backing track
Now this is where I do have to disagree with you. I have been to and still love going to see bands/artists playing live, and that is exactly what I pay for and expect to see/hear…personally, for me, a band using a backing track during a live performance that I am attending is a cardinal sin and almost as bad as miming!

Queue the stream of posts saying they dislike Leona/X Factor in general and that this thread is a waste of time 😉
I had a fear that might happen symon, and judging by some of the responses posted it clearly shows, which is a bit of shame really, but I suppose I did ask for people’s individual opinion, so I kind of had it coming really…I wanted to put a poll on the thread, but that option seems of disappeared for some reason?
I think Leona’s version is the same as Snow patrols…..utter dirge soulless music IMHO:):p
Personally, I feel you have contradicted yourself here…Leona Lewis = soulless?…
They auditioned to be put on a second-rate TV talent show, and were guaranteed, one way or another, a bit of exposure.
Do bear in mind though Daz that for some people auditioning to be put on a so called ‘second-rate TV talent show’ as you suggest is often the only way that feel they can achieve their dreams of stardom. Of course, there are those that simply apply and audition just for their five minutes of fame/exposure and that really have no talent whatsoever, but once you get to the final knock-out stages of a competition such as X-Factor, then the ‘candidates’ (sorry, couldnt think of a better word to use!:o) do put themselves through an awful lot of hard work/effort in order to be kept on to the next week…they don’t spend the rest of the week at home and then just rock-up on a Saturday night and perform the songs.
In my opinion, for those people that have the deepest commitment, desire and determination and work hard in order to achieve a successful career from it, good luck and congratulations to them!
I think all these bands/artists that come from competition type tv shows dont really have the emotional imput…
I take it that you missed the X-Factor final on Saturday? I am sure if you saw Alexandra’s performance with Beyonce, your opinion might be somewhat different.;)

Here’s something a bit different…has anyone on here heard of a German band called ‘Polarkreis 18’ at all?
I went to see them play live in London on Monday night (was probably the only Brit there…lol!), and they were bloody fantastic!
Anyways, here is a link to their latest single called ‘Allein Allein’ (translated into English, means ‘Alone Alone’), taken from their second album “Colour of Snow”.
Incidentally, this song spent 5 weeks at the #1 spot on German music charts!
Enjoy!

P.S: If there are any fans of this group on here, please PM me as I would be interested to know more about them!
