Nice! I do love a good 747 now and then, the Malaysian one has got to be my favourite choice! Keep up the good work!

It’s unbelieveable that she has had to go through all this such a small amout of alcohol in her blood. Scandless!!!

I agree it seems to be a small amount of alcohol in her blood, but the fact remains that at the end of the day she was over the regulated limit that the rules state and she got caught! Said person should do the honorable thing and admit to it and pay the price as their job depends on it!

So why is it that as I was looking on the web I noticed that there is a company offering the same trip but with Martinair from Manchester on the same day.

It could be that Martinair have got an allocation of seats on the First Choice flight…it often happens to save operating two separate flights to the same destination!

So how many of you still bother?

I do ask when I can be bothered, but dont make a point of asking every single time I fly.

On my last flight, I went up to see the captain of my Hawaiian Airlines HNL-LAX flight, and asked him if I could take a photo of the flight deck, and he joyfully said “Sure, take as many as you like!”…so here it is:

Hi G-BNLL, some nice pics there, thanks for sharing.

My favourite is the Air Nostrum ATR, although I too am very interested to know why Qatar Airways operate a CRJ, is it one of their corporate fleet?

Also, the airfield you photographed is RAF Cranfield, hope this helps!:D

She’s obviously totally irresponsible and doesn’t hold her job in high esteem..dismiss her!!

Quite right Steve, I totally agree!

It does not matter what issues caused this person to want to drink so much, that is irrelevant in my opinion. I would have done exactly as the colleague who reported said person to the police if I was in the same situation and felt that any particular team member that I was working with could not perform his/her duties properly and could endanger the safety of the aircraft, passengers and other crew, period!

Its just a shame that unfortunately now they will pay the price by probably loosing their job and throw away a perfectly good career by never being allowed to fly again, as crew at least!

Moral of the story…alcohol doesn’t solve every problem in the world!:D

One thing that does surprise me about this situation though is why it caused such a lengthy delay, 6hrs is a heck of a long time for what is in theory a fairly minor incident. Did the airline not have any standby crew waiting that could of replaced said person, and if not I thought flight crew were suppose to live a maximum of 45mins away from the airport, so why did it take so long before the flight left?

The O2 bottle letting go (if it was that) was just one of thouse things that happens in aviation. It was unuseual but if that had happened to another airline, would it have had the same media interest?

I would expect it would have the same media attention regardless of what airline it happened to because the aircraft would have had to of made an emergency decent (or ‘death-defying nose-dive’, as the media would probably put it!:diablo:) to a safer flight-level before making an emergency landing.

    …and there’s no u in Qantas

Although I already knew this, its the only word that I can think of that begins with ‘Q’ that is not followed by a ‘u’…or are there any other words I have missed?

Yet again Stu, you have managed to produce some sublime pictures…as dangerous as it may look, the second one is my favourite!

A while back, I had the pleasure of being on the flight deck of an OASiS Hong Kong 747-400 doing circuits at Doncaster. It was great fun.:D

Hawaii 2008! – Part II (images only!)

Seeing as there has not been very many comments made about the first half of my trip report, I have decided to just post the remaining pictures up rather than go into great detail, however, if you would like to know more please feel free to post below or PM me with any questions you may have?

The following were taken whilst I went for a walk along the coast by the hotel we were staying at. Honolulu International Airport was about 15 minutes away, so quality was not as good as the aircraft were quite high up in the sky already, but hey:

These few pictures were taken at Lihue Airport, whilst waiting for our helicopter flight over the island of Kauai:

The following pictures were taken at Honolulu International Airport whilst I was waiting to board my Hawaiian Airlines flight back to LAX:

Did this particular aircraft belong to a German operator before going to Hawaiian Airlines, as I noticed several markings on the interior that leaded me to this assumption – most notably the ‘Ausgang’ lettering on the emergency exit signs?

Of course it makes perfect business sense to reduce the frequency of services on under-performing routes, especially during this period of unpredictable economic weakness!

It also looks like they [British Airways] will also be upsetting the Cornish/South-West contingent of their customer-base as they have announced that they are to stop their daily Gatwick-Newquay services at the end of October as well!

    From TravelMole:

British Airways announced yesterday that it will withdraw scheduled operations from four Gatwick short-haul routes, including its daily flights to Newquay Cornwall Airport, and that plans to start two new services from Gatwick have also been scrapped. The suspended routes, from October 26, are the daily services to Newquay, Dresden in Germany, Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Poznan in Poland.

…but don’t panic, its not as though they are the only airline serving the route as there’s still Air Southwest; or Ryanair from Stansted!:D

More evidence of the ever emerging “London Airways”?

I dont quite understand this Tartan, how is BA’s reduction of services from Scotland evidence of ‘London Airways’…if you were flying from Scotland to any destination outside of Europe with BA you would most likely have to connect via LHR/LGW anyway?

I do wonder how much of an impact the ‘Open Skies’ policy has had on BA’s services, seeing as there are now four more US carriers operating out of Heathrow [Continental, Delta, Northwest, US Airways]. I am aware that services to New York are being reduced for the winter, is this the norm?

    That’s a ghastly livery!!

I disagree, as its much better than their previous livery!

    http://www.airliners.net/photo/US-Airways/Airbus-A330-323X/1371158&tbl=photo_info&photo_nr=16&sok=WHERE__%28airline_%3D_%27US_Airways%27%29_&sort=_order_by_photo_id_DESC_&prev_id=&next_id=1371044

Gatwick usually has x2 A330’s operating to PHL and CLT, however, a while ago they had to use a 757 (not sure on which route!) because one of their A330’s needed repairs/maintenance.

Does that mean i will finally get to see a Vueling plane at LGW!!!!

If it gets the thumbs up from the regulatory authorities, I would assume Vueling would serve both LHR and LGW as these airports are both served by Clickair currently!
