Very nice, joining CO I assume?

No I am not working for CO directly, I am in fact working for a ground handling company that will be handling CO when they begin their services out of LHR at the end of the month.

The photo of EWR was quite cool and i bet they did get planes out. If we would of had that at LHR it would of been Utter Chaos:rolleyes:

Indeed Jet22, that is what we were saying over there when we saw how bad it was, but the interesting thing is that unlike the UK, the Americans act as soon as they know the weather is going to be bad, so they were actually out on the ramp/apron gritting several days beforehand! And on the day the snow came, things just carried on as normally as they could. There were not that many cancellations, just long delays…

Just what the HELL is that ‘thing’ thats hanging off the 5th Ave sign in the first pic? It looks like a dead, decomposing rodent!

The honest answer to that that question is I dont know, and didnt even realise it was there until you mentioned it…lol. Answers on a postcard to…:D

Certainly an interesting idea…and I am sure the views would be great, especially if you were over mountains such as the Alps or Himalyas.

Are we going to have the media report on every emergency landing made by an aircraft just because of what happened at Heathrow?

It was not because of the events at LHR that prompted me to post this on here Adam, it was because I did not know anything about it and could not get to a TV easily to see the reports, so I wanted to ask if anyone knew anything about it…but I am sure someone would have posted it on here at some point!

Just thankful that it managed to land safely, as I am sure it would of been a scary experience from the passengers perspective.

Some nice shots there, my favourite has to be the first Zoom 767 one!

Is that Saab 2000 of Eastern Airways in a hybrid livery?

I know their Jetstream 41’s been painted in their new corporate livery a few months ago, and hope that the Saabs get the full works with the blue all down the side of the fuselage, as that one at the moment looks rather bland in my opinion.

    Hi globalpics,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing.

Very interesting to see a CJ painted so colourfully, most CJ’s are plain and boring colours aren’t they?

Do you know why the a/c was at LTN, I note it has ‘China Sonangol International’ titles on the front, any ideas as to where it had come from or where it was going to?

I also like how the sunlight falls on the tail of the Ryanair 737-800!

    Hi Rog,

    Nice report, thanks for sharing.

I have only ever flown with VS on a trip to SFO (and back via LAX; both on a 744), and both flights were really great!

I am glad to be flying with them again to LAX and back when I go to Hawaii in July, but unfortunatley it will be ‘economy’ for me!

do you want part 2 ?? upper class back ???:D   yawn

Yes. It would be nice to hear what you thought of Upper Class, I have heard that it is an amazing experience!

Also, do you have a picture of the ‘cunard queens’?

Have just done some quick research into this, it would have to be in an Elite config, seating up to 18 passengers…

Airbus and Lufthansa Technik will offer the A318 Elite in two variants seating up to 14 or 18 passengers with a projected maximum range of up to 4,000 nautical miles (7,400 kilometers).

A flight from London City to JFK is approx just over 3,000nm, so it would be possible.

WOW! A stunning collection of shots, especially the A225 and the 737, but my personal favourite has got to be the OASiS 744…beautiful!

Nice stuff there Josh, especially the Qatar A340-600, and the first BA shot with the control tower in the background.

Just out of interest, what is happening in the other BA picture, is it being de-iced, or just washed. Either way, a pretty cool image as you say!

    Keep up the good work!

Ah thats great mate! I was thinking about trying for the ticket desk up here at NCL but then thought to my self i need to get a bit more experience on checking in the main stream airlines such as BA and KLM. So today i started on the KLM roster. Im either going to try for ticket desk or maybe have a look at dispatch.

Alot of people I know turn their noses up at a job on a ticket desk as they think it is boring, but I have been on it for approx a year now and I really like it; it is really exciting because no one day is the same and I really like having to deal with complex passengers issues/problems that you probably wont be able to deal with at check-in.

I would of applied for dispatch myself, but I felt that you loose the ‘customer service’ approach when in this role, which is what i like most about working in the industry. Not that I am saying dispatch is a rubbish job, far from it, it too can be very exciting and challenging role to be in, but like you said I am going to get more experience in other areas first before I think of moving into ‘operation based’ positions.

Good luck, whichever way you go!

I might be reading too much into it, but I find it a bit strange as to why they are looking to sell the airport to find someone that can help to develop it, why not just look for a partner organisation that can help?

If RAL do sell the airport site completley, wont they loose out on any future revenue that the airport generates if it is as successful as has been suggested?

Congrats on the new job mate!

Do you mind if i ask what the job is?

    Thanks very much.

I will be working on a Ticket Desk at Heathrow…nothing to shout about really as I am already in Ticketing/Reservations at the moment, but it is more money than what I am on currently, and I feel that working at LHR will provide me with more opportunities in the future!:D

Thanks tenthije, I only have a Fujifilm s5700 camera so might not be as good as that link you gave me states a 100mm lens would be required at most of the viewing points, but I will see when I am there.
