If the critics panned it, then I’ll go see it. Most of those snobby twits would’t know a good movie if it came up behind them and kicked them in the ****.
Lol. I couldnt agree with you more there dogsbody…although I must admit that they do very rarely have their moments when they are actually right for once…my mind goes back to seeing ‘Captivity’ (what a c**p film!), it was that bad it got no stars in The Times, and I cant believe I was foolish enough to waste 1,000 of my hard-earned Nectar points to go and see it, think I was drawn in by the fact that it had Elisha Cuthbert as the lead role!:D

I think MK have a mainteance base at filton.
James
Wonder why it was at Filton?
Indeed you are right James, MK do have a maintenance facility at Filton as they are EASA 145 approved, which is a certificate/licence granted by the European Aviation Safety Agency to organisations that are involved in the design, manufacture and maintenance of aeronautical products. EASA’s main aim is to promote ‘the highest common standards of safety and environmental protection in civil aviation.’
Apologies to Bristol_Rob, I didnt mean to sound so critical about the picture, I wrongly assumed that you already knew MK Airlines operated in and out of Filton. Good on you for spotting it in the first place and attempting to get a picture just before it went into cloud!:D
I agree its a very poor quality picture, but that livery is easily identifiable from a distance because it is very basic…
Interestingly, I read somewhere that in February of this year, MK Airlines applied to the CAA for permission to operate ‘scheduled services’…not sure if this means scheduled cargo or whether they are considering venturing into the passenger market, possibly out of MSE, which would be great!
And the star catch of the day (despite the fact she came in during the dullest time of the day) was this… G-LSAJ, Jet2’s latest addition to their 757 fleet!
…and just to make it even more special, Jet2.com have already branded this a/c to market one of their latest destinations as well!:D
Some excellent stuff, as per usual PMN.
Does flykandi mean or stand for anything?
James
Flykandi is just the brand name that is used to promote the partnership between Monarch Airlines and the music brand HedKandi.
Basically, HedKandi put on loads of music/party events in the locations mentioned, and Monarch provides cheap flights to these destinations for the people that attend these events…so Monarch flies the people, HedKandi provides the party/music…hence the name FlyKandi!
Oh! One of those was it? The government trying hide more waste of the taxpayers money I think.
Hopefully it did not cost as much as the £500,000 that the BBC decided to shell out on ‘revamping’ their news titles…what a waste of licence-fee payers money…its not exactly going to get more people to watch the news is it!?

Hi everyone, interesting thread you got going on here…
My contribution is from a New York based band called Nada Surf and this is my favourite song called ‘Hi-Speed Soul’ from their 2002 album called ‘Let Go’:
Don’t really know why I actually like this song, I just do…lol.
I went to see them play live @ KOKO in London the other night (08/05/08), and they were amazing!
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do, opinions welcomed!:D

That first shot is absolutley superb! Well done.:D
Has BA managed to resolve the dispute between OpenSkies and BA mainstream pilots at all, have not heard much about that for a while?
I used to work for the handling agent for OASiS Hong Kong at LGW, and I felt it was one of the best airlines we handled, and from a start-up perspective it is very sad to hear of this news.
Here is the statement that is currently posted on their website:
9 April 2008 – 2050h HKG time
It is with regret that Oasis Hong Kong Airlines announces that the airline has this morning applied to the Hong Kong Court to appoint a provisional liquidator. The Court has appointed Edward Middleton and Patrick Cowley of KPMG as the provisional liquidators, and they have assumed control of the airline with effect from 1400h HKG time today.
Our flight operations have been cancelled until further notice. The Provisional Liquidators are liaising with other airlines in order to help customers make alternate travel arrangements as quickly as possible.
Passengers with bookings are being advised to contact other airlines that fly the routes that they use to serve…”however, passengers should note that, owing to the airline’s current situation, they will need to meet the cost of these alternate flight arrangements themselves.”
No reason has been citied for this failure, anyone able to tell us anything about it, was it because it simply ran out of money or is it because of the global credit crunch and resulting high oil prices?
I like the ‘open skies’ lettering, but other than that it is rather boring as it is mainly white and has the same tail as the normal BA aircraft, I know it is a subsidary, but they need to change it to make it stand out a bit more in my opinion!:D
Most of the airlines that have managed to obtain slots at LHR have done so through negotiations with their respective alliance partners, and paying a substainsal amount of money…as in multiple £millions!
As tenthije pointed out, NW and CO managed to get slots from KLM, and I believe that Delta managed to get slots from Air France.
Have not heard though if bmi are considering any services to the US from LHR, and if so whether they would use some of their slots that they already own in order to operate some of these flights. Either that, or they will have to negotiate hard with their partners within the Star Alliance.
Wow, those pictures are ‘hot’ (sorry, couldn’t resist!):D.
Was the OASiS 744 doing circuit training when you were there at all, would of been great to see it doing touch ‘n’ go’s along the runway!?
Thanks for sharing anyway.
