Yeah there is no ALC flights this year due to load, but most people out there have hoilday home’s and want a LCC flights from MSE-ALC as if some remember was a top EUjet Route.

That seems strange James, why was the route dropped due to the loads, if it was so succcessful with EUJet…?

Surely you expect demand to still be as strong, and for the flights to be busier than ever, especially if there is not as many flights to ALC on offer as there was with EUJet…

I think your right though James about an airline serving ALC from MSE, it would be a key route but I suspect that it will have to come from a new entrant airline because no established airline has started any scheduled services to/from MSE since EUJet failed, and even then I think the locals would question using a new entrant airline from MSE, especially any of those people that were affected by the failure of EUJet…

I know there is talk about FR possibly basing two 737-800’s there, but it is just rumours, and is not helped by airport management failure to release info updates on a more regular basis to keep residents and enthusiasts interested.

I think you’ll do well to fly on Britishjet, bhxboy, they won’t be around then!

Indeed, I was thinking this as well!:)

Malta Bargains (the company behind Britishjet!) have agreed a seating allocation on Air Malta (KM) flights, so you may well find it will be an KM aircraft, which could be a 737, A319 or A320.

We have just had the summer timetable in the last week for KM’s flights from LGW, and I know that they will be operating the MD-80 that Britishjet had…up until April I think, so it might also do the occasional BHX-MLA-BHX sector, but cannot be 100% sure!

Am not sure if Air Malta will go to the expense of having the MD-80 painted in their own livery!

Some great shots there! Always nice to see some from the flightdeck!

That last picture of the South-Coast and IoW is simply stunning and by far my favourite!

Lol. What you failed to mention here was that you were soon told by Airport Security to get down from the bush/tree!:D:diablo:

Wow! Some stunning shots there…where exactly were they taken?

(Just before anyone thinks of stating there from LHR, I know, but where at LHR?)

Perfectly legitimate thing for Ryanair to do.

Just to set the record straight, apologises for not stating this earlier, I was not suggesting it was not a legitimate thing for Ryanair to do, of course its perfectly fine for them to do it, but if FR are going to continue to market themselves as ‘the low-fares airline’, and they continue to increase these additonal charges, they may need to adjust it to read ‘the low-fares airline + a bit extra…’:D:diablo:

Also for the record, I was merley passing on what i thought was useful information for those people that regularily fly with them as they may be caught out one day by a sudden increase in charges!;)

On the subject of additional revenue, MO’L might want to take a quick look at what Skybus offer…they charge $15 for a pillow that you then get to keep, which I think is quite a good idea and one that could work very well for FR’s longer sector journeys as it would provide a little bit of comfort for passengers, especially seeing as the seats do not recline.

Well I am off to New York for three weeks in February, however, this is for training for my new job…but I am sure I will get some spare time to explore the city for the first time!

And in July, I am off to Hawaii!:D

I am flying LHR to LAX with Virgin Atlantic, and then onwards to HNL with Hawaiian Airlines, then doing a 7 day cruise around the Hawaiian islands, and then spending a further 6 days in Waikki Beach area, during which I am going to take one/two of these days to fly on some of the local airlines including Aloha, Go! and Island Air!

It was this statement that got to me the most…

Ryanair’s Peter Sherrard said: “These will not be the last increases in Ryanair’s checked in baggage or airport check in fees…”

Excellent way of deterring customers from flying with them!

Paying to use toliet onboard plane.

It would not be a suprise to me if they did begin to do so…how much though, £2 each time, soon rising to £3!:D:diablo:

Damn shame I was working at the time it was in, otherwise I would of joined you Josh!

    Nice shots though.

For info Air Europa 767s had been operating for Cubana until last week when AEA suddenly pulled the plug.

Any idea as to why AEA decided to ‘pull the plug’ as you say?

Brilliant shots there Josh like the Aurigny ATR 72 & the A310 Air Transat and what route does that do?

    JAmes 😎

James, the Air Transat A310 does most of the flights to/from Canada, so YYZ/YYC/YVR are the main destinations, and on some flights to YVR, it does a stopover in YYC before heading onto YVR!

We do not get to see an A330 very often at LGW, and when they are in, I am usually working so can never get a picture of them…lol!

No offence, but what kind of weather were you expecting in January…:D :diablo:

Some very good shots Grey, it certainly does go to show that quality far outweighs quantity!

I agree with James (Manston Airport) that the hybrid BMed/BMI A321 livery looks very nice!

Have heard a report that the airport is currently closed and that all inbound flights are being diverted to LGW and other airports, can anyone confirm this?

As an experienced traveller with a moderate level of understanding as to how things work being bulls****d by airport staff annoys me much more than being told what the problem is, believe me! 😀

    Paul

I agree with you in part PMN, but surely some reason or information about a delay is better than no information or reason at all. The thing that annoys me most is when an airline decides to provide information at the scheduled time of departure, and then it drags on and on and on…until eventually it is a 3/4/5 and sometimes a 6hr delay – not a great start to anyones trip!

in reply to: Will 'British Airways' rebrand as 'BA' #564029

I think British Airways should rebrand itself as ‘BA.com’ as it is more modern and in-keeping with the times.

It is forever marketing ‘BA.com’ on the television, radio and online, and even in newspapers.

The only thing I dont think they should change is their slogan ‘Have you clicked yet?’, as I think that is just great!

As for the livery…I think a brand new scheme needs to be designed altogether for the same reason really.

I do agree though that there will be some out there that will always refer to it as ‘British Airways’ because of its ‘national’ resemblance.

One thing I am thinking though is…could a simple rebranding such as changing a name honestly have an impact on the number of people that decide to fly with them? I think it would be a sorry state of affairs if people did decide to boycott the airline just for doing something like this, its just a name after all…as long as they continue to offer the same service at good and often better prices than some LCC’s, then they should not worry too much about it?

    Terrific news all round!

You know, I think they’ll look quite good in that livery.

I was thinking exactly the same Grey…:D

To be honest I am not suprised by the move though, ever since Flybe bought BA Connect, I had been wondering whether they might look to either take over Loganair altogether or offer them a franchise agreement,

Can we expect BE to launch any ‘new’ routes, or will they just stick to the ones that are currently in operation?

Also, will they offer a baggage transfer system for connecting flights…for example, if I decided to fly say LGW-INV-Stornoway, or would I be expected to collect any luggage at INV and check-in again for the onward flight?

Either way, its terrific news for Flybe/Loganair, for the people that live in the remote areas of Scotland and also the tourists that want to visit these places.

I also noted by looking at the BE route map that they are taking over BA’s LGW-ABZ route…also more good news for regular travellers who were dismayed at BA’s decision to drop the route!
