This sort perhaps……? 😉 F.A.B.
Does anyone know if the Gnat XS100 is still at Fyfield Essex?
And if so who owns it?
I presume you mean the wings & rear fuselage ? As the nose section is still with the A.Martin interiors store SW3, London

I’m not a glider person, but could be pursuaded to take it up, if you get to fly an Me163 ?! 😀
And dont forget folks, the design started off life as a glider until the Reich put a rocket in it 😮

…and if you did, you wouldn’t see any big chunks as its mostly all on loan to Highland a/c Museum, Inverness.
.
Don’t worry mate, personally I love them, they look good and sound good. I’ve heard them being called ‘jet pigs’ a couple of times so the name’s kind of stuck in my head, plus it’s a lot easier to say than ‘jet provost’…..
Never heard that before. We did use a few colourful names, but the polite term was ‘JayPee’ (used with an affectionate smile) 😀
.
Nice little Jet Pig…..
What did you call it ? 😡
I think a few points need clarifying ! The airfield is used for training firemen in the essential role of rescuing people from aircraft . The aircraft have a purpose and are not ‘abandoned’ as such . The land is the property of the Mod and I am sure they do not welcome souvenir hunters . The base is still used by helicopters operating from RNAS Culdrose – there are numerous pictures of the wrecks there on the net.
Exactly.
As i said, MOD owned and MOD property. If you get caught trespassing you’d better have a good excuse.
Only key holders are farmers etc, although the r/c plane boys go up there too.
Hmmm…. strange red Beaver type airyplane spotted.
No sign of owner, beer tent perhaps ? :diablo:
Hmm, I wonder if any groups or individuals would be able to acquire parts for their projects from there?
Nope… not legally anyway !! 😉
Guys.
I came across these pics on Fotopic site and wondered if these planes are still there?
Peter,
Yes its the Fleet Air Arm fireschool in Cornwall.
Still MOD property and all still MOD owned 😮
