One of My Club-mates (Ramsey Model Aero Club) has built a 17′ span Valiant powered by 2 AMT Turbines, first flew last year:

    Crikey, look at that 😮

And “proof-of-concept” Stirling, made by Shorts themselves:

    Daz,

Would not a 50% Stirling be the most viable ?

Especially as someone could tell the CAA that it has of course been done before (by Shorts).

Although i think i’m correct in saying that Pobjoy engines are like Dodo poo (?).

Are they all in collections or does anybody still run them ?

    Which Half ????? 😉

    Ian,

I think the front half comes first, with the back half in close pursuit (usually) :diablo: :diablo:

There’s only half a data plate, so rightfully only one half of a rebuild would be authentic. The other half would be a replica 🙂

At Legends soon then ? :diablo:

    Cking…

Thanks for that, very interesting and i’m amazed somebody has gone to the trouble putting a display board near the waters edge.

If this were a B-17 or a Lancaster, i’m sure it would have been recovered long ago.

Do a search on here and you will see more threads etc

    Still cant find it Pete.

Doing a “B-29” search throws up 300+ references and if i go advanced & look for “Lake B-29” still cant find it, even in the ‘How many B-29’s.. ?’ thread.

Hmm,Alas unfortunately it is they way of things to come, this has come from a very reliable source within the Ministry, How many of the sea harriers and jaguars have you seen sold complete with engines and avionics?same with the Jetstreams, a disposal agent local to ourselves buys and shifts on many of the said Jaguars and Harriers, neither adours of pegasus engines are available complete or dressed, the engines and avionics are stripped, allmost all vital equipment is now stripped, and many also have the fuel tanks holed internally.

    MJR

Indeed, all SHAR and Jaguar disposals to date, are indeed engineless, and in the case of the SHAR, the cockpits are stripped of useful spares also.

Useful to whom is open to debate, as those SHAR’s and T.8’s still flying have to use NOS spares from Stafford, and ~not~ those removed from the fleet, merely to use up the allocated budget…. strange but true 😮

That is my hope Dave, but it would have to be quite a strange route Booker – Yorkshire via the M11 – still hoping though.

Maybe his tom-tom sat nav was playing up ? :diablo:
