My collections of aircraft parts have outgrown my garage and……
Got any ‘arrier bits ??????? 😎
.
I also noticed the Hunter mentioned, just a cockpit section really.
.
Yes, thats correct.
Former Dutch built Hunter N-202 is (was) a cockpit section.
The aircraft was purchased by Hawkers and turned into a two seater for a foreign air force.
The nose gravitated to Pinewood studios for use in films (not just 007).
Try Google…!
There was also an ex-Dutch Hunter blown up in Octopussy 😡
N-202 I believe. Have I got that right Dave T?
Yes indeed.
Sorry Mark, only just popped into this particular thread.
I’ve still got pictures (somewhere) from when i collected it from the 007 stage at Pinewood still in its film all white scheme as ‘black 10’
N-202 was also in ‘Man with the Golden gun’.
It was the ‘Mig’ being winched aboard the upturned Queen Mary in Hong Kong harbour.
😀
Afraid not, Kemble Air Day is Sunday 19th.
Oh poo… ! 🙁
.
….just thought it stange when the Kemble show is on Sunday and not Saturday.
Dave T, enjoy your Sunday with 4 Olympus’ ringin in your ears. You never know there might be one flying at Kemble next year. Here’s hoping……..
Eh ? I thought Kemble was on Saturday ~and~ Sunday, especially as you said “..why not go both days and support the show “
Is this event a two-dayer anyone ?
Or will it really clash with (at least) two other events ?
The 655 Maintenance & Preservation Societys Vulcan fast taxi-run is Sunday 19th only, at Wellesbourne Mountford Details:
I last saw a V-bomber formation at Kemble a couple of years ago, with some excellent large r/c models flying.
I do hope your prediction of the return of ‘558 bears fruit. 😀
Damien…. THANK YOU for that B&B link 😉
Well thanks for the.. erm… ‘input’ Stinky Pete.
I think Damien said it all really.
And if i cant find a place to kip over, i’ll just support the XM655 guys !!
I really ought to be at Cockpitfest, but as i last saw a working Vulcan at Chivenor circa 1992, i think its time i caught up with one.
Cheers…… 😉
XP984 at Brooklands doesn’t have a ‘Harrier’ wing. It lacks both the tip extensions and the leading edge extensions found on the Harrier I wing…
Dees,
Yes you are correct as it stands at Brooklands now. I should have said ‘did’ have a Harrier wing, but luckily the good folks at Dunsfold acquired an earlier series wing for it for its rebuild.
Hi, Pete, not really sure about that. GR5s were never painted camo, they were only green. So unless that wing has been ‘cammo’d up’, it isn’t a Harrier II mainplane. Also, looking at the pics again, there appears to be a kink in the covered leading edge, and the Harrier II leading edge is straight. Harrier I mainplanes either had the dogtooth, or in the case of FA2s, had the dogtooth faired in.
Cheers
I agree.
The only thing in common with 1st and 2nd generation Harriers is the name and the fact they go up and down.
Believe me, there is no interchangeability of parts… been there done that !! 😀
Even the P1127/Kestrel series have differences in the wing, as the examples at both Brooklands and Yeovilton have ‘Harrier’ wings.
Agreed…. have you noticed they constantly like to change and muck it up when its perfectly ok ? 😡
Shame ‘they’ dont notice though.
Is anyone here a Powerseller ?
If so, they can email eBay for a human (sic) response.
(Tut… now all the Harrier parts are in with the Ford variety) :dev2:
Jaguar bits
And a couple of the Jaguar bits (from different sources), although i dont think its the same aircraft, plus a section of something ?
Did you happen to notice in one of those photos on that site the set of wings that looked new in wrappings?
Yes, but they aren’t new.
These wrappings are merely the foul weather covers that are used in service.
The yard owners deal in supplying spares so i presume they are/were wrapped in the hope that a (foreign ?) buyer has need for some wings.
And heres more……… 😀
(Peter M’, do you have any more of the interior as requested last Autumn ?)
Pete,
Yes, thats Harrier T.4N XW268 (ex-899) currently lying in the yard of Aero Logistics nr Crawley (and Jaguar XX733 also shown).
It is ~not~ for sale or to be scrapped, in fact it is shortly to move on loan to the Gatwick museum at Charlwood.
Well spotted though, thanks 😀
Doug,
Why dont you place an ad’ in Classic Wings Downunder ?
As there is currently one in there in the latest issue for a cache of parts.
Or just give the editor, Graham Orphan, a ring. He might know of someone who wants them ?
.
Ah, so that’s why there is a padlock on the canopy release handle 😀 😀
😉
