…..also if you ramble along the bridle path that goes through Predannack airfield, you never know what you might see. Predannack is still used for helicopter training and gliding, and was a significant Coastal Command base, home to Liberators, Mosquitos etc.. The bridleway goes into the base perimeter and past several old airframes stored for fire rescue training.
Will,
Next time, bring ya’ spanners and i’ll give a ‘wants’ list 😀
Nice pictures. What is the 9th picture – Red fuselage outside next to the Comet nose.
Thats the Antartic Otter as discussed in great detail in the ‘Long range preservation’ thread. 😀
Hillson Bi-mono
Lovely, lovely aircraft…!!
Rob,
Many thanks indeed, although to clarify, i’m referring to the previous owners habit of 20+ a day.
Perhaps the same method or similar works on tobacco smells ?
Cheers…….
Oh come on, no way is that a post-war photo.
Look at the window on the Marauder as well !!!!!!!!
…. This EGR is in preparation of the low and high power Taxi Runs which are scheduled for Sunday June 19th.
Just received a promo flyer for this event, but never been before.
Aside from the obvious (a Vulcan breathing life !!), can anybody recommend it in terms of turnout, other attractions, traders etc, etc…. ???
I built this kit as kid, as a Nightfighter and from memory it was huge!
Anyway, I think that the tooling was originally produced/owned by Matchbox, for which Revell owned or had a licensing agreement, until recently.
I also believe that Revell now own the tooling but can no longer use the Matchbox name!
Revell purchased the kits part of Matchbox circa 1990, with a 10 year ‘lease’ on using the brand name.
Normally Matchbox kits were re-issued under Matchbox, albeit made in Germany (without the old PK___ kit coding system), until circa 2000 where they now appear under Revell only.
For example, the Victor K.2.
In this instance, the Beaufighter is a Revell kit dating from at least the seventies and has been re-issued many times.
The only true Matchbox 1/32 kits being the Lysander, Me109, Spit 24, Tiger Moth, Puma and Dauntless.
There was a limited issue of this mould by a Mexican company (whose name escapes me) but as a TF.X complete with thimble nose & dorsal spine.
Also the late ID Models produced a very basic vacform Beaufort, which is vastly improved by using the Revell Beaufighters wings, tail assembly etc…
Expect to pay around £15-£20 on eBay for the Beau’ or from specialist kit dealers such as Kingkit
Cheers…..
How much for the ‘Accidents’ book please ?
.
Sorry to start another thread on this BUT !
I would just like to take my hat off to the guy who has purchased this Vulcan, I really find it hard to see why some people on here are taking the we we out of his venture and he is determination to see this through from what I can make out.
I really hope all works out well, she will be in the public eye for a much longer time than it would being left to the other alternatives which are very few indeed.
Why ?
What has happened to warrant this statement ?
How many lancs were used in the film and where are they now?
And the Lincolns… dont forget the Lincolns (in the background) !!
Anybody got the new ‘Making of….‘ book yet ?
Tony,
Just sent you a PM on that ‘other’ subject.
Cheers…..
You can hear the report by using the “listen again” facility.

Scroll down the running order to 07.42 am.
Many, many thanks for that.
A good example of how (touching on the ‘this forum’ thread) the forum is so very useful !!
😀
Popham was fine for me as I cleared out some dross, bought a few more pilots notes to add to my extensive collection. As Melvyn says, the heady days of Yeovilton are long gone (the days when I bought a seat for my Hurri for £15!!). The odd bargain can still be had. Wish I’d taken my camera. Saw Melvyn but couldn’t get too close due to 1000s of autograph hunters!! Highlights for me were the Prentice and Miles and my daughters locking the keys in the boot!!!
Rocketeer,
I’ve sent you a PM regarding the subject of our conversation.
Can you check your in box and get back to me please ? 😀
Poor show….
So apart from myself, ‘HMS Vulture’, ‘Rocketeer’ and ‘Buccsociety’, did anyone else go ?
And if you did, what happened to meeting up ?? 🙁
Perhaps because the event has turned into a giant car show and autojumble, nobody bothered ?
And perhaps thats why even Flypast weren’t there and the majority of the marquee vendors are now arts/crafts and local charitys.
Thoughts please anyone………?
Mark,
Yes, if i recall, after the initial excitement these were discounted as being Flight 19, and instead turned out to be a variety of TBM’s lost over a period of time from a nearby training base.
All ditched for a variety of reasons by novice trainees, and there proximity on the sea floor was a mere co-incidence i believe.
Perhaps someones know more ?
Cheers……..
