Has anyone done a Vulcan pilots panel ?
Either original or made one, or perhaps has one as a current project ?
I’ve just found a drawing Colin (Vulcan) Mears let me have, but i’ve a few questions that need answering before i cut metal.
Cheers…….
what time does it open on monday? got to be at the in-laws 😮 for lunch,so hope to drop in on the way
I think its either 9.30 or 10.00, but its on Pophams website if you care to take a gander, along with directions. 😉
A few from Cottesmore a few years ago. First is XW924, haven’t got a clue about the subject of the rest, though someone at the time said that they thought the airframe was ex USMC!!
What a timely post… thank you very much.
Why ? Because that fuselage is AV-8B 162068 which has just come up for disposal and will be moving to Cronifer Metals very soon.
Cheers……. 😀
Air intakes are next!!
What, like this ? :diablo:
Dear DJ Jay,
No need to be sorry! – on the contrary, I was pleased that your question
implied that the canopy only looked slightly odd as compared to being a complete disaster! After spending hours last summer with bits of strip steel
from B&* and acrylic sheet – guess what? someone had a canopy for sale……(sigh). The front canopy does not have any plexiglass (transparency) as apparently
the original was detonated (test or the real thing I wonder?).
Although I could probably fit acrylic as I did for the home-made one,
does anybody have experience of getting perspex (or acrylic) molded?regards,
Ian.
UPDATE: Posted on Ians (IWS) behalf, two pics of his newly acquired & fitted original T2/4 canopy frames.
The rear is fitted with original perspex, but the front has a temporary acrylic version.
Anyone know where an original front T2/4/8 perspex can be sourced, we’d like to hear from you please.
😀
Ok, everyone at 12.30 outside the front marquee entrance then (not the rear flap tradesmans exit !) ?
Or failing that, Rocketeers bric-a-brac stall throughout the day (only joking TD) !!
Nice to see that the Buccaneer avoided the scrapmans axe and is going to a good home. One question – are my eyes playing tricks or is that the nose of a Sea Harrier poking out from behind the crane ? I know one went ‘Devon way’ some time back but without a final destination.
Do you want a Harrier then ?
Is the marquee the best place to meet then ? In or out ?
And whats the best time of day…. after the initial bargain hunting ?
I thought they wanted £10K ?
Perhaps Texantomcat can enlighten us ?
Yep, done it. Please try again !
Cheers Seaking….
Do you happen to know who MOD sold it to ?
Ah yes, the ‘prototype’ FRS2. Thought that chess board looked famliar.
It was in store in the Cobham hall at Yeovilton ?
Enroute to somewhere. Perhaps FAAM have been allocated (purchased ?) a better example ?
Anyone know more ?
Keith,
Did you get the SHAR serial number ?
